A Vision for Truth

The consciousness of Christian people with the true theology experiences
deterioration. This phenomenon is like the life of Christian people at 16th century. The great
digression appeared in every doctrine that they believed. Then, a man named Martin Luther was
called by God to claim the true theology. For him, the key of the Bible truth lie in the death of
Christ. Luther saw the Gospel with paradox, and only by faith we can believe this paradox. There
are four paradoxes that will be discussed. First is about God. This paradox states to not know
God by His marvelous deed, but by His weakness which is cross. Then, we will understand what
does mean by win from arrogance. Second is about salvation. This paradox corrects about
general view about God’s grace. God’s grace is given to us not after we have done good deed,
but when we are a sinner. Third is about reality. This paradox tells us that reality about God
beyond our logic. Example, we think Pilate that decided Christ crucifixion, whereas God took
the control, not Pilate. Fourth is about suffering. Actually, suffering that we experience in case of
following Jesus will get the real joy in heaven. That’s God way.
The writer begins this chapter by relating the digression of Christian doctrine at 16th
century and nowadays. For him, the solution is still same. That is Cross theology. He aware that
the false doctrine happens because they interpret bible based on their own will. They dislike
cross because it contains suffering. That is why the writer emphasizes the paradoxes. The
paradoxes can see the cross become a great joy, because in cross there are victory of salvation.
It is interesting when the writer tell the condition of Christian people about the
doctrine that they believe first. It will make the reader understand about the reason why cross
theology and paradox must be understood by the reader. However, it will be better if the writer
end this chapter by giving some advices about the concrete way to implement Cross theology.
This chapter is very useful to correct the reader whether the follow the true Christian
doctrine or not. Then, this chapter strengthens the reader to always faithfully follow the true
doctrine which is based on the cross of Christ.

I have read chapter 1.
