3. The drag force, Fd, imposed by the surrounding air on a vehicle moving with velocity V
is given by
1
Fd Cd A V 2

Where Cd is a constant called the drag coefficient, A is the projected frontal area of the
vehicle, and ρ is the air density. Determine the power, in kW, required to overcome
aerodynamic drag for a truck moving at 110 km/h if Cd = 0.65, A =10 m2, and ρ =1.1
kg/m3.
5. A gas is compressed from V1 = 0.3 m3, p1 = 1 bar to V2 = 0.1 m3, p2 = 3 bar. Pressure and
volume are related linearly during the process. For the gas, find the work, in kJ.

8. Two kilograms of air is contained in a rigid well-insulated tank with a volume of 0.6m3.
The tank is fitted with a paddle wheel that transfers energy to the air at a constant rate of
10 W for 1 h. If no changes in kinetic and potential energy occur, determine
