Abstract
Introduction
Swallowing caustic agents can cause severe and progresive damage to the stomach
and the esophagus. Most often occurs in children - because children accidentally ingested or
in adults due to a suicide attempt. Chemicals as acids and bases often cause chemical burns.
In some cases develop complications such as stricture causing difficulty in swallowing. The
literature refers to this case therapy is often controversial and difficult to conclude. There are
several procedures for this problem, but each procedure on oesophagus causes further tissue
damage with additional loss of function. Colon interposition as a therapeutic option in severe
cases.
Clinical Presentation
