Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this
accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure a quality installation.

These guidelines can be found in the "Accessory Installation Practices" document.

This document covers such items as:-


 Vehicle Protection (use of covers and blankets, cleaning chemicals, etc.).
 Safety (eye protection, rechecking torque procedure, etc.).
 Vehicle Disassembly/Reassembly (panel removal, part storage, etc.).
 Electrical Component Disassembly/Reassembly (battery disconnection, connector removal, etc.).

1. Vehicle Disassembly.
10mm Socket
Negative Battery
Cable (a) Place Automatic Vehicles in low gear with
the parking brake set.
(b) Remove the negative battery cable.
(Fig. 1-1)
(1) Protect the fender before starting.
(2) Note the Cable Position as it will be
reinstalled in the same position.

(c) Remove the driver side foot rest, and the
driver side step cover. (Fig. 1-2)
(1) Cover the floor and seats before starting.
Cowl Cover NOTE: discard the foot rest. A replacement foot
rest (PN: 58190-04021) must be used.

Lower Dash (h) Remove the small cover from the lower dash

(i) Remove the hood release cable. (Fig. 1-4)
(j) Remove the lower dash cover. (Fig. 1-4)

Lever Bolt (1) Open the screw cover of the lower dash cover.

(l) Remove the two screws securing the lower

(1) Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn
it to ON to unlock the steering wheel.
(2) Turn the steering wheel left and right to gain
access to the screws.

(n) Attach the low adhesion masking tape on the
center cluster panel, as shown. (Fig. 1-8)

CAUTION: Only apply tape on the Center
Masking Tape Cluster Panel surface.
(o) Using the Nylon Panel Removal Tool,
remove the center cluster panel. (Fig. 1-8)
(1) Loosen the four clips when removing the

(2) Disconnect all connectors from the panel.

Audio Unit (p) Remove the audio unit. (Fig. 1-9)

(1) Remove 4 bolts.
(2) Disconnect all connectors from the audio unit.
NOTE: Prior to removing the radio assembly
from the dash, cover the radio mounting tabs
with a cloth to prevent damage to the vehicle.

Vehicle’s Tape (j) Locate the vehicle’s white 12P connector in


10P (Gray) the driver side cowl area, and remove the
electrical tape from the vehicle’s white 12P
connector, then disconnect it for clearance.

(k) Locate the hole in the driver side cowl area,
then pull out the vehicle harness’ Gray 10P

(l) Plug the V5 harness' Gray 10P connectors


between the vehicle harness' Gray 10P
connectors, then insert the Gray 10P

connectors into the hole in the driver side

Jeweler's Screwdriver, ECU Pin Removal Tool (p) Using a small jeweler's screwdriver, lift up
8P (White) the terminal retainer on the back of the 8P
WIRE SIDE VIEW connector. Locate the WHITE wire in the 8P
connector. Using the ECU pin remover tool

(r) Disconnect the empty 2P female connector

jeweler's screwdriver, lift up the terminal

(1) Do not pull out the retainer.

(s) Insert the terminal at the end of the vehicle

Grabber Tool (c) Route the V5 harness toward the center


cluster area using the grabber tool.

(1) Insert the grabber tool from the center cluster
area and push it toward the driver side upper
brake shaft area.
Grabber Tool (2) Catch the V5 harness 10P connectors using the
grabber tool, then pull it back toward the
V5 Harness center cluster area.

(1) Verify the connectors are plugged in securely.

(i) Push the Status Monitor into the open knock


out location until it snaps in place. (Fig. 3-7)

(a) Insert the V5 security ECU mounting
bracket tab into the indicated bracket slot on
the V5 security ECU. (Fig. 4-1)
Fig. 4-1 (1) Insert the mounting bracket into the correct
slot; you have only one chance to install it
properly.

Flat blade Jewelers Screwdriver CAUTION: Due to a tight fit between the V5
ECU and bracket, it may be necessary to support
V5 GBS ECU the bracket on a flat surface corner and press the
ECU onto the bracket.

(b) Turn the adjustment screw on the V5 GBS


ECU to the "8" position. (Fig. 4-2)

V5 GBS ECU Large Foam (c) Apply two large foam tape strips to the V5
Tape Strips (x2) GBS ECU as shown. (Fig. 4-3)
(d) Insert the V5 GBS ECU mounting bracket
tab into the indicated bracket slot on the V5
GBS ECU. (Fig. 4-3)

(1) Insert the mounting bracket into the correct
ECU Mounting slot; you have only one chance to install it

5. Warning Label Installation.


● For US Vehicles use the English Labels and Tag, and
discard the Spanish Tags and Labels.
● For Mexico Vehicles use the Spanish Labels and Tag,
and discard the English Tags and Labels.

Clear Tape (a) Use Household Glass Cleaner to clean the


inside of the Front Door Window.
Etching (b) Use a piece of Clear Tape to lift the Label
from its protective backing.

6. Completing the Installation.

(a) Complete the reassembly of the vehicle.


(1) Prior to replacing the radio assembly into the
dash, cover the radio mounting tabs with a
cloth to prevent damage to the vehicle.
(2) Reconnect any disconnected connectors.
(3) Verify the panels fit together properly with no
uneven gaps between them.
NOTE: When installing the Foot Rest use a
Replacement Foot Rest (PN: 58190-04021)

Torque Wrench (b) Clean up and remove any trash.


(c) Reconnect the vehicle's negative battery
