BTAP

1. The signaling between BSC and TRC nodes is handled by the

BSC/TRC Application Part (BTAP) protocol. The BTAP is not
a standardized GSM protocol.

2. The TRC node is fully controlled by the BSC, the speech coding
control is invisible to the MSC.

3. The BTAP contains functions for transcoder allocation,

activation, and release.

In case of congestion, TCH blocking will be affected.
