 Teacher writes the word 'job' on the board
PRE-LESSON  In pairs, pupils are asked to list down jobs that they know

 Teacher explains the word 'chore' ( an ordinary job that must be done regularly )
 Teacher plays the CD ( Track 24 ) and pupils repeat the words chorally and individually.
 Pupils work in pairs and discuss the answers for Exercise 1
 Listen to the ideas as a class
 Pupils discuss the things young people do for money and things they do to help around the
home.
 Pupils work individually and use words from Exercise 1 to complete the adverts on the

DEVELOPMENT  Pupils compare answers in pairs
 Teacher plays the CD ( Track 25). Pupils listen and check their answers to Exercise 2.
 Check the answers to the question 'Which two people are looking for work? as a class and
elicit that Alex and Mandy are looking for work.
 Individually, pupils complete the sentences using the vocabulary from Exercise 1.
 Nominate two pupils to read aloud the example question and answer.

 Pupils list the chores they like and hate using a Circle Map
