Shall we allow

big competitors
to enter town?

1
RESOLVED: SHALL WE ALLOW BIG COMPETITORS LIKE ALTURAS ENTER THE PUBLIC
MARKET OR EVEN IN THE TOWN?
YES:
1. Because malls and similar big businesses like Mang Inasal, MacDo, Jolibee,
etc., with their superior technology and products are a crowd drawer. They
magnet customers from faraway places and thus make the marketplace filled with
more people and increase sales.
2. Small businessmen are half asleep, are lazy and lack innovation in both
products and services, in order to challenge the stagnant small businessmen and
pull them up to upgrade, superior competitors have to be invited to town;
3. To lower the prices by small businessmen who are giving inferior products
and services;
4. Because the bottom line is: To protect the customers, e.g., from the abuses
of the small businessmen, e.g., high prices and inferior products and services, and
lack of varieties.

NO:
1. Because what is needed is for the Market Administrator to stop sitting
down and start acting like a maverick CEO of a private mall and lead his small
businessmen into higher levels of products and services, such as:
a. Successfully tie up with local farmers to supply whole and organic
products;
b. Thus, lower the prices;
c. And at the same time, raise up the safety and quality of the
products;
d. Make his/her public market small businessmen into wholesalers, not
just retailers, of organic and whole products;
e. Thus, attract wholesale buyers, not just small retail customers, from
neighbouring towns, not just from the town itself;
f. This alone is the best attracting and prospering strategy: wholesale
of organic (chemical) and whole (complete nutrients, e.g., not polished/
refined) products. Note: Refined sugars, refined rice suffer the same fate:
removal of their bran and germ which results to the loss of 28 out of 30
nutrients found in the bran.
g. The best set of strategy is: (1) Wholesale in quantity and (2) cheaper
price due to wholesale and due to local sources which saves time and

2
distance, hence, lower transportation and manpower expenses; and (3)
Whole and Organic in quality.
2. To activate and awaken small businessmen from lack of innovation and
upgrading, the town mayor through his market administrator must use Divine
Love, not competition, as the main and even sole motivation. Divine Love or love
for neighbor, means (a) feeding the people, the consumers, the families, the
children, et al. with safe and nutritious food; thus (b) protecting them from
diseases, medical expenses, debts, bankruptcies, and death;
The duty of the Government, in the person of the town mayor, is first to protect,
then, serve the people; the people elected or allowed “them” to set up government
based on the promise that the elected and appointed officials and employees will
protect the people who are either the customers or the small businessmen from big
businessmen; once the mayor has strengthened his small businessmen by making
them wholesaler-retailer of organic and whole products, he may let the big
businessmen come in;
3. The alleged high prices by small businessmen can be corrected by a
regulation which requires products to be only either (a) sold by the farmer or
fisherman himself; or (b) a direct buyer; no second or third or fourth buyer is
allowed in order to prevent several layers of mark-up which make the final price
very high. The mayor has to generate employment for these second-, third-,
fourth-hand small businessmen.
4. Inviting malls and big businessmen is not real protection:
a. PRICE PROTECTION. The control or lowering of price initiated by the
new big business is only temporary; once it is able to destroy its small
competitors, it can and will set its prices even higher than the previous
ones; this has happened to Southern Star which is now collecting P62 from
Jagna to Tagbilaran passengers; before Southern Star, the fare was only
P60. The habit of big business has been: lower the price to kill small and
other competitors, and then, raise it once they alone remain (monopoly);
b. SAFETY OF THE PEOPLE. To say that the products of the malls and
other big businesses are superior AND SAFE because of their nicer
packaging, or more delicious tastes, etc., is a big fat lie. As a matter of fact,
it is their nice manufactured, processed products which are responsible for
the killer diseases of modern time: cardio-vascular diseases (CVDs) such as
heart attack, stroke, etc; cancers of over 100 types; diabetes; mental
illnesses such as autism, Alzheimer’s diseases, Parkinson’s diseases. THESE
BIG BUSINESS ARE USING MORE CHEMICALS THAT BOTH DESTROY OUR
HEALTH AND OUR ENVIROMENT. THERE IS NOT SAFETY WITH THEM
UNLESS THEY RETURN TO ORGANIC (CHEMICAL-FREE), NATURAL (NOT
CHEMICALLY ALTERED) AND WHOLE (NOT REFINED) PRODUCTS.

Note:
The discussions in each article are very terribly conclusive and unmistakably
confirming what is observed and experienced in reality by multiple millions of people
around the world, not just the “two or three witnesses” that the Old Testament and Jesus
Christ require to establish a fact or truth. The witnesses are by the millions!
Small businessmen are not innocent as they are retailers of the products
“wholesaled” by big businesses. But here on those lists above, we can see that more of
these products are concentrated in modern malls and supermarkets, because the
grassroots sari-sari stores or small-time fish vendors have still access to organic or semi-
organic products produced locally.
Admittedly, both are parts of the system that produce unsafe products… so much
so that it is not correct to say that “letting the big business enter a local or town market is
to protect the consumer or make the life and health of the people safer” – this is total
fallacy.
What is best to do, in the midst of raging cancers, cardio-vascular diseases,
diabetes, etc., etc., is to recognize the need to go back to organic system of our
ancestors.
