Lesson Plan.

Tell students we are going to be working with the English Literature in its next
two periods.

Organize students in three groups.

Tell them the class will include a competition (with a prize for winners), so they
have to participate to win points.

Make a brainstorming with the students about Renaissance using a picture as


reference.

Time: 5 minutes

English Literature in Renaissance and Neoclassical Period.

Step 1: Show them a timeline and explain briefly literature’s evolution in


England.

Time: 1 minute

Step 2: Tell them about the English background and ask them why it is important

Time: 2 minutes

Step 3: Talk about the renaissance, the context and its division

Time: 1 minute
Step 4: Ask them why Reform is important here and which author is the most
famous. Do a review about Elizabeth Age, the context and its literature.

Time: 3 minutes

Step 5: Ask them to name at least one of the authors in this period. Do a review
about Jacobean Age, the context and its literature.

Time: 4 minutes

Step 6: Ask them to name the most relevant genre in this period. Do a review
about Caroline Age, the context and its literature.

Time: 2 minutes

Step 7: Ask them to explain (briefly) what happened in this period (political and
social aspects). Do a review about Common-wealth Period, the context and its
literature.

Time: 3 minutes

Step 8: Ask them to explain (briefly) why the next period is called neoclassical.
Talk about the Neoclassical Period, the context and its division.

Time: 3 minutes

Step 9: Ask them what is the relationship of Charles I and the new king. Do a
review about The Restoration, the context and its literature.

Time: 3 minutes

Step 10: Do a review about The Augustan Age, the context and its literature.

Time: 2 minutes

Step 11: Do a review about The Age of Sensibility, the context and its literature.

Time: 2 minutes

Step 1: Give them a book to each group and show them which paragraph they are
going to work with

Time: 1 minute

Step 2: Explain them they have 3 minutes to read it and discuss in the group about
what the author talks about.

Time: 3 minutes

Step 3: Do the analysis exchange.


Time: 2 minutes

Step 4: Make a brief feedback.

Time: 1 minute

Step 1: Literature race

-Take outside the students.

-Organize them in lines (the same groups)

-Give them the instructions

-Run to the stairs and take one piece of paper

-Run to their classmates and locate it according to its structure: prose, drama,
poetry.

Time: 5 minutes

Step 2: Explain where every fragment belongs

Time: 2 minutes

Give the prize to the winners and talk about how literature can adapt to any
period

Time: 1 minute

TOTAL TIME = 45 minutes
