9-9

A) Theme: Serenity

B) Passage: He said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in

weakness.” I will rather boast gladly of my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may

dwell with me. I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and

constraints, of Christ; for when I am weak, I am strong. (2 Co. 12:9-10, NABRE)

C) Reflection: The world can come crashing down on us, trapping us until we feel like we

are suffocating. We feel as though we are stuck in one place, forever turning in circles.

But, God will comfort us and lead us in a new direction. As Christians, we know that God

has sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to find us when we became lost. He is the Good

Shepard who will search for us when we stray from Him and console us when we are

unhappy. We are at peace when we discover the Lord, for He takes us as we are. To gain

serenity, we must first accept ourselves. When we accept our faults and regrets we can

reach our full potential. Let us not look back on what cannot be changed but look forward

to new opportunities. To discover the Lord, we must first discover ourselves. With the

Lord, our weaknesses make us greater. For as the Lord suffered, we must also suffer.
D) Dear God, Source of All Creation, Heavenly Father, and Giver of Life. Today we ask

You to intercede for us to Your Son, Jesus Christ, to grant us serenity.

We pray so that Your Son may find us when we are lost to the world. We pray to You to

help us accept our mistakes, our faults, and our weaknesses, for without weakness, we are

not human. We pray so that we may reach the serenity needed to accept everything that

makes us human. The imperfections that we have were each lovingly chosen for us by

You. Help us to see past just our imperfections, and to see all else that You have blessed

us with.

Finally, Lord, we ask You to pray so that others may receive serenity. We pray so that

others will receive Your grace and Your mercy. We must help others recognize that we

must suffer, for Your Son has also suffered for all of humanity. We pray so that You may

grant us and others the serenity to see ourselves as the perfectly imperfect human beings

that You have made us to be.

We also pray to Mary, to plead with her Son on our behalf, for she was also human, like

us. Mary saw past others’ imperfections and weaknesses.

We pray to You, Lord God, and Your Son, along with the Blessed Virgin Mary and all

the angels and saints. We ask for serenity to realize that our imperfections make us

perfect. May You be with us always, in light and in darkness. Amen.
