In a physical examination, the doctor conducts an initial evaluation of the patient through auscultation,

palpation, percussion, and observation. Upon finishing the examination, the doctor then correlates
his/her gathered data to the existing patient history and pathophysiology in order to further assess
which ailment afflicts the patient. It is important that the patient acknowledges the physical examination
as a part of the doctor’s standard operating procedure that its purpose is diagnostic and therapeutic.
Performing this correctly is crucial in addressing the concerns of the patient and ensuring the security of
their wellbeing.
