Topic: David Copperfield – by Charles Dickens
Aims:
 To familiarize the students with some aspects of the work of Charles
Dickens
 To make sts aware of one of the main themes in Dickens’ work: the tough
life of children
 To practice silent reading
 To enable students to answer comprehension questions
 To enable students to analyze a literary fragment making use of questions
 To enable students to discuss the aspect of education in Victorian times
and nowadays

Materials: worksheets from “Fields of Vision – Literature in the English Language” by


D. Delaney, C. Ward, C. Rho Fiorina

Assumptions: The students may have heard of the novel by Dickens, but only a few of
them may have read it
