COURSE SYLLABUS

Course Title (CHEMISTRY I) BASIC CHEMISTRY

Year Level Third Year

Faculty
Basic Chemistry is an introductory course to chemistry which includes topics that are
necessary for a solid foundation in general chemistry. This course allows learners to
use science process skills to study the fundamental structure of atoms, the way
atoms combine to form compounds, and the interactions between matter and
Course Description energy. It aims to provide learners with learning experiences that are geared
towards promoting interest, demonstrate understanding, and develop appreciation
of the essential concepts and processes of Chemistry and its applications. It also
provides learners the understanding to apply chemical principles to basic problems
and to draw conclusions from laboratory data.

At the end of the course, the students are expected of the following desired
attributes. The students should be able to:

 Demonstrate understanding of the basic concepts, principles, laws and

Course Objectives theories of chemistry and their applications.
 Utilize science process skills to become analytical, logical, creative and
critical thinkers.
 Appreciate the relevance of chemistry in everyday life.
 Develop an enduring and lifelong interest in the study of chemistry.
