Class : primary 3 Date: 21/01/2018 Duration: 45 mins
Class profile: 27 students ages 9 – 10. Their proficiency in the English Language is good but their scientific and general knowledge are limited Time-table fit: In the previous lesson: The Ss learned about the space and its contents. In this lesson: They will learn about the stars and its characteristics (color). In the following lesson: The Ss will learn the brightness of the star. Measurable objectives: Given colored shapes of stars and work sheet, SS should be able to stick them on the paper according to their temperature within 5 minutes. (Cognitive domain 1: remember) Given colored strips of paper Ss should be able to make little stars on their own and then change their seating according to their stars' color within 12 minutes. (Cognitive domain6: create) Other learning domains: Move around while they're changing their seating in the less guided activity (psychomotor) Use their hands in making the stars (psychomotor) Compete during the two activities (affective) Enjoy making their own stars (affective) Background knowledge: Students already had a general concept about stars when they learned the space and its contents in the previous session. Anticipated problems: Academic: 1) Ss may not be able to comprehend that the sun isn't the hottest star. Solution: emphasize the information that the sun is the nearest star so we can sense its temperature. Disciplinary: 1) Ss may cause a noise during the less guided activity. Solution: encourage them by giving a bonus star for most quiet group. Materials and Visual Aids: 1. Course book and workbook. 2. Lesson plan notebook. 3. White board markers. 4. Glitter shapes of different colors of the stars. 5. Strips of colored paper to make the stars. 6. Work sheets for the guided activity. 7. Power point quiz for the recycling. 8. A short video as a lead in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9vIK2_l22U 9. A picture for the warmer game. 10. A short video to illustrate helium gas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2qBoTVrGgE
