Introduction

Architecture is not only a subject of creative ideas and imagination but also a field of practical output and a subject of skill and experience. The theoretical knowledge, the immense technical study and the ever-
learning process through which an architecture student shapes him/herself in his/her early years should be further molded by the practical experiences. Also the whole career now rests upon the foundation of the
enhanced practical skills developed by the student. Architecture is a passion, the sheer determination of the highest quality.

PRACTICUM, specified as a part of the curriculum prescribed by the Tribhuvan University is thus the initiation to help the student to gain such practical experiences on the architectural field. It helps us to have
professional oriented knowledge and practices and helps to understand the work function of the subject. Under this program students are required to work as a trainee in an established architectural firm practicing
the ethics of the subject. In this period student learn to use their skill, implement theoretical knowledge and gain profession experiences under the guidance of the professionals. It not only helps the student to
understand the live problems and techniques to solve such obstacles but also to work and interact as a professional. In other way, it is an opportunity to interact with clients, society and the constraints,
professionals.

Architecture is an endeavor of breaking the barrier for the flow of the creative ideas into the practical assessment. PRACTICUM is thus the period in which the architecture student learns to rake an initiative to
channel his/her creative thoughts into a real project and see the work develop. Also the students learn to communicate and work with various parties like clients, contractors, workers. This program helps to
understand the way of works in site, problems occurrence and their solutions. PRACTICUM helps to grasp the realistic side of architecture profession. This is the period for the student to learn problem solving
capacity, methods of analyzing, working in a team with the team spirit and the confidence to carry out the work.

Knowledge and creativity are useful in this profession but the mediums and the skill to present them is equally important. So another objective of this PRACTICUM is to develop such technical skill of presentation.
This includes the ability of the student to develop the concepts through graphical medium like sketches, 3d software engines to present his/her ideas. Also students learn to present the design in a way that even a
layman can understand. PRACTICUM also benefits students to have knowledge about things like Municipality drawings, FAR and byelaws which I the utmost requirement of this field.

Hence, PRACTICUM is the phase and an essential medium to fork our way into career and develop ourselves as a professionals. It is a bridge of the theoretical knowledge and practical endeavor.

INFERENCES

Internships are really the important step that came in the technical study. It is a platform to utilize the gained theoretical knowledge from book. Practical knowledge is an important as theoretical knowledge in any
part of the field. In case of architectural field also, practical experience plays a vital role. During the training period, I got the opportunity to work under the supervision of senior Architects, Engineers and other
personals.
The way we proceed in design class regarding any design cannot be compared to that in real. In practical when we are to design, various aspects like economy, site conditions, climatic features, client decision,
byelaws, the availability of construction technology etc., are to be carefully studied and strictly integrated during the design process.
From site supervision, I came to know much more about the real construction works held, how workers are involved and how the design we prepare in paper comes to be realized in ground of reality. In class
designs, we are not concerned about the structural pasts of the building; we just try to create an appealing and aesthetical building, no matter it is really possible to concretize or not. Our prime considerations
become the architectural expression. From PRACTICUM, I came to perceive that along with the architectural aesthetic, structural consideration is equally crucial; otherwise the design will be confined to the paper
only, not in real practice. This practicum has helped me in realizing the professional; architectural ground and exploring myself, like how much I can utilize my knowledge that I gained during the class hours in real
when I am assigned to any task. It has amplified my confidence.
