Without a doubt the most interesting feature of the Obsidian Lands is the rivulets

of lava that trickle from the most northern of the DK volcanic mountains. This
particular lava flow is continous, and like other continuous flows, has developed
it's own peculiar ecology. This particular landscape is even more confounded by
the charred remains of what was once the eastern pine forest of the northern reach.

Trails walked by beast-men tribes lead through the pine woods. Although most human
travellers are advised against contact with most beast-men tribes, the beastmen of
the north are somewhat less bloodthirsty, while being no less territorial. The
leaders of the northern beastmen tribes are often shamans whose power stems from
magical stones, similar to the ones found in human lands.

The burnt forest has never decayed since it hosts such powerful magical stones
buried in ash and volcanic stone. While some are simply carried, others are
fashioned into jewelry and worn, despite the fact that any adornment vaporizes
along with the stone should it's power be tapped. This has led the beast men
shaman to wear multi-stone pendents that can be re-worked with additional magical
stones. The variety and beauty of these handcrafted decorations cannot be
overstated; many Moldish collectors seek pristine magic stone encrusted beast-man
adornments.

The megafauna of the northern reach is different on each side. The eastern
ashlands, including the lava flow, host pteradactyls that fish off the shore. The
fish that spawn off the eastern shore feed great sea monsters that haunt the coast.
