· The ship (from the mainland)

arrives, thinks there is no one
alive, then sees the distress
signal.
· The rats take over the ship
· (and the men are afraid).
· The rescue boat arrives with ship
· The men decide not to light the lantern full of meat, rats go out to the ship,
· to gain the attention of someone on catch on fire, sharks eat the rest.
· the mainland.
· The rats eat away the window frame · THe men are rescued. The Narrator
· and Itchoua is bitten. · returns to service at the lighthouse,
Itchoua dies from rat bites,
· Le Gleo has nightmares but the narrator remains calm. LeGleo is sent to an insane asylum.
· The men tease rats as they tried to get at them through the glass.
· Rats exit off of the ship and take over the lighthouse.
· The men lock themselves up in a room without food or supplies.
· A derelict three-master ship is headed straight for the
lighthouse.

· Three men are employed as lighthouse keepers on Three Skeleton Key island. The island
got its name from 3 convicts who died while escaping from prison. It is a lonely and scary
job because the men face many dangers.
