MAP OF DELHI
AIM AND OBJECTIVE
• To design a contemporary socio-cultural centre with an Indian appeal and which
can be related by Indians as well as people coming from abroad.
• Creation of urban spaces within the complex to define the centre in a broad
spectrum.
• Creating a strong “sense” for that area (dwarka-sub city).
RATIONALE
Being its proximity to Indira Gandhi International airport and location in planned dwarka
sub city, it has lot to offer to people residing there and coming from abroad .The design
of centre can be very strong landmark and design the image map of dwarka .it can push
the boundaries of creativity since in that area architectural vocabulary itself is very
modernized and gives appeal of contemporary India. Moreover unlike noida with
caparo-ayatti delhi does not have contemporary international socio-cultural centre other
than IIC and IHC which are in new delhi ,with growing needs more such platforms are
needed to cater growing needs . Dwarka is expected to be connected to Gurgaon by
metro in the near future due to its close proximity to the NCR town. Thus there is a
strong need of a socio-cultural centre for Dwarka.

SITE
The site is at Dwarka, sector 11.The area of the site is 5 hectare. it is next to Dwarka
sports complex.
METHODOLOGY
• Live and literature case studies.
• To study the behavior of a socio-cultural centre and social-urban spaces within these
complexes.
• To understand the interrelationship of different zones of a socio-cultural centre and
develop a hierarchical relationship of zones.
• detailing of 3 blocks and marking out of other two blocks.
• Comparative analysis and inference from that study.
• Study of research work and available data on Indian architectural elements as well as
contemporary architecture.
• Evolution of concept and physical manifestation of that concept on site.
