ARRIVAL

WARNING

Gradual rising terrain to the north of the Runway 19 threshold may

create the illusion of being low on final, while on glideslope.
VGSI and ILS glidepath not coincident.
Runway Restrictions
– Maximum tailwind landing limits - 5 knots.
– Braking action good or better required for tailwind landings.
– VFR maneuvering must be conducted east of runway at a minimum
of 1500’ AGL (8000’ MSL) to comply with the noise abatement
procedures.
– IFR circle to land approaches must be conducted west of runway to
avoid Blacktail Butte.
– Use autobrakes (minimum 4), if operative.
CAUTION
Night visual approaches PROHIBITED.
High altitude airport with short runway.
Expect turbulence on approach. Seat flight attendants prior to
descending below 18,000' MSL.
Approach Special Procedures
– If ATC does not assign approach, advise ATC which procedure will
be executed.
– Monitor ground speed due to high TAS at altitude. Recommend
initiating IFR approaches at 180 knots for turn radius protection.
– Weather hazards
• Moderate or greater icing may occur if IMC over Jackson Lake
north of airport.
• High winds from the west may cause moderate or greater
turbulence. Turbulence is usually greater north of the field
(RWY19 Approach) than south of the field (RWY 01 Approach).
• Consider VOR 01 Approach and visual landing RWY 19 if
moderate turbulence is expected.
