Paranormal activity: BU edition

Editor Lexi Loya and writer Jamie Pellikaan share their paranormal experiences
Beforehand
Lexi -- When I first heard about the paranormal
investigation happening at Baker, I knew I had to go.
After watching paranormal shows all throughout my
childhood, I couldn’t believe I finally had the chance to
take part in a real ghost investigation. I am a definite
believer in the paranormal and supernatural and I
always have been (living in a haunted house during your
childhood will make you a believer). That being said, I
didn’t think anything was actually going to happen on our
investigation. Boy, was I wrong.
Jamie -- My fascination with the paranormal began
December of 2010 when I got a rerun of Discovery
Channel’s “Ghost Lab.” Albeit the show was low
production, but I was enthralled. Since then I have
been an avid viewer of paranormal shows like “Ghost
Hunters” and “Ghost Adventures.” The chance to go
on an investigation like I see on the shows and maybe
even have a few of my own experiences was a dream
come true, so to say the least, I was pumped for the
investigation around campus.

Parmenter Hall
Jamie -- The investigation started at 6 p.m. in the
Darby Hope Theatre in Parmenter Hall. There we met

Men’s basketball starts season 2-0

the Falcons 47 to 27.
The beginning of the season welcomes back nine
Wildcats to the men’s basketball program. Senior
Dan Young believes there is an advantage that
comes with “knowing what we like to do and how
we like to play.”
With two games played at home and two more
approaching the Wildcats see both the good and the
bad that comes with hosting games.
Young says one of the pros includes the
comfortability of playing on a court you’ve been
used to since preseason, but distractions can also
come easy when playing in the Collins Center.
“That’s one of Dooley’s pet peeves,” Young said.
“He watches that on film and sees who’s paying
attention in timeouts and who’s in the crowd, I think
that happens more at home.”
Young says with girlfriends and parents it can be
easy to lose focus, but at the same time wanting to
win for those watching can be a motivator.
