Period: 8th
Mom

You have been there from my conception

Your love for me is endless as it shows
There’s no words to describe my appreciation

In life, there hides much deception

You have taught me to intake everything life throws
Because of you, my life holds so much aspiration

You are my only exception,

Which one like you already knows.
There’s no words to describe my appreciation

My endeavors are my aspirations

You have taught me how life should go
You have been there from my conception

We have not faced major misconceptions

There’s not a doubt in my mind I haven’t disclosed
There’s no words to describe my appreciation

Please accept this carnation

As a token of my gratitude as you may know
You have been there from my conception
There’s no words to describe my appreciation
Nature

O beauteous seas of green that flow free,

As glorious royalty tower all!
Yet, within swirling opaques, doth one see,
A shining ruler that stands bold and tall.
With radiating valour, he brings light
To Mother’s ensemble, where life grows
And flourish to color, as if ignite.
Where boisterous hues sprinkle vast meadows,
And fruits of labor, honey-sweet and pure,
Granted to those birthed by her scattered blood.
Such magnificent sights cause strong allure
To venture lands or view a sprouting bud;
But such mystical wonders can’t compete
To budding romance, emotions so sweet!
Winter

Winter is just around the corner

Snowflakes and snow in the air
The forecast is our worner
Swoosh, the wind is whistling

Winter is finally here

Christmas wreaths are hung up
Lots of work to be put in gear
Beautiful time of the year

All the different lights

Make the roads so bright
Everything’s a fascinating sight
Making up a wonderful night

Winter is not a bore

Ding dong, carolers at the door
Humm, the carolers start singing when you open the door
Winter is finally here
Poet’s Statement

The first poem I created was about my wonderful mom. The structure of the poem was a
Villanelle poem which consists of five stanzas with three lines each and the sixth stanza with
four lines. The whole purpose of the poem was to write about someone who is close to me. When
I write about someone that I care about, I feel, the poem has more emotion and thought put into
it. My mom has been there for everything and every event I needed her for. My motivation to
write about my mom came from her motivation to excel in being a mom. The poem is supposed
to give of a warm and happy mood. The method of my poem was to start of why my mom is my
inspiration and describing that she has been there every time I needed her. Then I go of and talk
about how we might have disagreements sometimes, but how we always overcome them. I
wanted to give of a feeling that my family is really close and that we care for one another. My
other goal was to make some variations in the poem with rhyming. My future writing, I might
have to shorten my length of a line and make it short and concise. There are a variety of lengths
in this structure but I feel it would be more interesting and eye catching to the reader. In my
future writing I will try to incorporate another type of this writing because I love the rhyme
scheme and structure of the poem in general.

The second poems structure is a Shakespearean sonnet with fourteen lines. The purpose
of this poem was to write about nature and compare the blossoming emotions of attraction and
affection to the splendor of nature. The reason I chose to write about this topic is because I like
nature and things associated to it, such as associating it to a mother. Nature is a wonderful part of
our environment and many people don't take care of it. If we all treated nature like our mothers,
the nature would be clean for us and new generations to come. The method behind my writing
was that I also wanted to have some of the symbolic imagery to be connected to the time of
Shakespeare, like using rulers, while also using some ye old English phrases. Lastly, a lot of
poems at the time used such descriptive language to compare their lovers to natural beauties, so I
chose to have the last two lines be connected to the feelings of love rather than a person. For my
future writing, I feel I wouldn't change anything about this poem because I put a lot of thought in
how I wanted to write this poem connecting it to Shakespearean time. In the future, I would like
to create another type of this poem because it was interesting following this structure and rhyme
scheme. I liked the old English words I incorporated in the poem because it makes the poem
stand out more since we don't see or hear these words often in our vocabulary these days.

The structure of the third poem was a free verse poem. I was aiming to write about
anything using whatever format I wanted without any rules to follow. The method for the third
poem I used in writing my poem was using rhyme, repetition, alliteration, refrain, and
onomatopoeia as my elements. The rhyming was used in almost all the stanzas because I wanted
to make the poem creative. This type of poem did not follow any rhyme scheme because my
intention was making it a free poem with no rules. I have used repetition in three of my stanzas. I
repeated the line, winter is finally here because I wanted to emphasize that the whole poem is
about winter coming and I wanted to describe what people do during Christmas time. I used
onomatopoeia because I wanted to use words to describe sound to make this poem sound and
look different than the others. I used alliteration in some of my stanzas by providing the words
snowflakes and snow in the same line and wind with whistling. I used refrain in the end of the
stanzas to show the repetition between the stanzas. The elements of the poem affect the meaning
and the mood of the poem because they create the audihe audience to feel emotion. Everyone is
excited about winter because there’s a lot of things happening in December and in my poem I
explained all the things you can do during the winter. The mood is a big part in the poem because
that’s what the reader comprehends in the poem. In the future, I will probably stick to the
structure poems provided and the rhyme scheme provided because I feel they were way easier to
write and format my ideas.
