Revision of nominal and verb phrase ellipsis and conjunctions

- Give ss appendix 1 to remember what conjunctions we learnt so far then appendix 2


to test their knowledge.
- Give ss appendix 3 and ask them to decide which sentence has nominal ellipsis and
which sentence has a verbal ellipsis
- Write on WB or tell the students 1 quiz question, they think abt it, they tell you the
answer, and discuss why it is that answer. Do the same with question 2 and 3
- Tell ss to write their own quiz questions minimum 2

1. Underline the repetition.


2. Decide if it is a noun or a phrase verb.
3. Use ellipsis to remove the repetition and make the elided words understood from
context.
Example
If you can come early, please come early.
Come early is repeated. We are going to remove a verb phrase. Result: If you can,
come early.
