SIKACIM® ANTIGEL
Set-accelerating and hardening anti-freezing agent
for mortars and concretes

Description
SIKACIM ANTIGEL is a ready-for-use chlorine-free brown aqueous solution.

General characteristics
• Promotes cement setting and mortar and concrete hardening especially at low temperature
• Does not substantially modify mechanical strengths
• Compatible with other SIKACIM products. Do not pre-mix them.
• Compatible with any types of cement excluding aluminous cements.

Applications
• Concreting during cold weather.
• Reduction of the mould-release time.

Storage and shelf-life

SIKACIM ANTIGEL stored in its original unopened packaging has a three-year storage life.

Consumption
• The proportion for placing concrete during cold weather or to accelerate the hardening at
normal temperature is 1 0,5-litre dose / bag of 50 kg of cement.
• If there is a risk of intense freezing after concrete has been placed (temperature ranging
from –5°C to –10°C) use two doses per bag of cement.

Directions for use

SIKACIM ANTIGEL is added to the mixing water.

Important considerations in case of concreting during freezing.

It must be borne in mind that an anti-freezing agent is intended to activate the clinker
hydration process. This is possible only if the initial temperature of concrete is greater than
or equal to an internal temperature high enough for ensuring concrete hardening even
though the outside temperature falls below 0°C.
Consequently one should take care to
• Use cement with a high heat of hydration (CPA/CEM I or CPJ/CEM II, class R)
• Use a cement content of at least 350 kg/m3
• Not use frozen materials
• Protect fresh concrete against the action of wind by placing tarpaulins (excluding plastic
sheets)
