14. Write out few excuses you’re clinging to (not smart enough, no experience, wrong upbrining,
don’t have the education etc.)
a. Make up in hard work and personal development to outcompete anyone – including
your old self

17. List a few areas, skills, or outcomes where you have been most successful in the past. Consider
wheter you could be taking those for granted and are not continuing to improve, and are
therefore in jeopardy of having that complacency lead to future failure
CHAPTER 2
18. Our choices can be our best friend or our worst enemy. They can deliver us to our goals or send
us orbiting into a galaxy far, far away.
19. Each choice starts a behavior that over time becomes a habit.
20. Make empowering choices
Cool:
21. Keep a thanks giving journal for my wife. Every day for an entire year I logged at least 1 thing I
appreciated about her – the way she interacted with her friends, how she cared for our dogs,
the fresh bed she prepared, a succulent meal she whipped up, or the beautiful way she styled
her hair that day – whatever. I looked of the things my wife was doing that touched me, or
revealed attributes, characteristics, or qualities I appreciated for a year.….. give it to her
following thanksgiving. (Focus on wife’s positive aspects)
23. People think they take responsibility for their life….then you look at how most people operate in
the world; there’s a lot of finger pointing, victimhood, blaming, expecting someone lse or the
government to solve their problems.
24. You alone are responsible for what you do, don’t do, or how you respond to what’s done to
you.
GETTING LUCKY
25. Difference between become rich, happy, healthy, or broke, depressed, unhealthy, is the choices
you make throughout life. “Unlucky is an excuse”
31. The magic is in the doing of simple things repeatedly and long enough to ignite the miracle of
the Compound Effect
32. Track your life with the same intention: to bring your goals within sight
33. Tracking is a simple exercise – it works bc it brings moment-to-moment awareness to actions you
take in the area of your life you want to improve.
