Plastics That
Can Walk
On the second day of the International Conference at
PLASTINDIA 2018, human consumption of plastics for
everyday use was a crucial point of discussion.

M
any blame plastics as the sole cause of pollution around us. But, as
Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev said, it is humans who are responsible for
pollution than plastics. The visionary’s opening video clipping spelt
out, “The more serious problem faced by humans is that of depletion of soil
and water and this is more difficult to revitalise. Plastics, on the other hand,
are a wonderful material that can be used over a 1000 times. Anything that
can be used over a 1000 times is an indication that other important resources
of the world will not be affected. And, this is the solution. Unfortunately,
we have made a solution into a problem.”
The day also witnessed some path-breaking innovations and designs. CEO
of Ekam Eco Solutions, Uttam Banerjee, through his presentation spelled
out how to achieve excellence through design. He has designed and set up

Composite Pavilion
Composites are two or more materials with different physical or chemical
properties infused in one. Sanjiv Vaidya, Designer at the Composite Pavilion
says, “Composites are simply fibre-reinforced polymers. It consists of
fillers, additives, core materials etc. The elements in composites retain
the individual identities of the materials, yielding benefits like high impact
strength, dimensional stability, low maintenance and long-term durability.”
Composites are used in diverse fields like automobiles, missile making, sports,
electronic gadgets etc.

Such composites are known

for their mechanical strength
and are on a huge scale
demand in the homeland.
These are very popular for their
seamless shapes and internally
built firmness. Sanjiv Vaidya
continues, “PLASTINDIA 2018
gives us a great platform to reach out to different vendors and increase
our market sales. The thickness of this material is the key pointer of our
expanded business with the plastics industry. We have been able to interact
and share our developments with many people, networking with unique
sets of business groups etc.”

Geosynthetic Pavilion
Geosynthetics are specialised textile products made out of the fibres produced
from plastics. These are polymeric products used to fix the problems faced
by civil engineers specifically for manufacturing, road construction (bridges),
railways etc. Pravin Bhokre from Geosource quotes, “After a lot of research

and debates relevant to India’s growth

in this field, we decided to develop
the business and used geosynthetics
for filtration, protection and
reinforcement. It is mostly found
in transportation, civil, environmental
and marine developments.”

Appreciating the welcoming nature of the domestic markets,

Murat Derin, Sales Manager, Brückner Maschinenbau GmBH

area for us. Establishing an alliance with the external world,
especially India, has always turned out to be beneficial for us.”
The European clan acknowledged the country’s independent
outlook, innovations, great sales and negotiations. Indian

with the business overseas and such deals on a large scale
motivated the European industries to initiate with the local
services. Adding to this Alfred Menhart, Area Sales Manager,
Reifenhäuser Blown Film GmBH exclaims, “We subscribed to
the fastest growing economy in the world and it has never
been a disappointment. We saw a rise in the demands of
the middle classes and we expanded our arena.”
Adding to the hugeness of PLASTINDIA 2018, many
of exhibiting businessmen here highlighted the
importance of clean plastics and their idea of promoting
the same. Murat Derin says, “It is extremely necessary
for India to participate in the whole natural process
of reuse and recycling. After bifurcating the wastes,
some plastics can be reprocessed whereas others can
be burnt to generate energy. This will not only favour
the environment, but automate the growth of the
plastics industry.”
PLASTINDIA 2018 is a forum where enterprises from all over the

profits together. Recording the best of their experiences, the
