Inverter
AIM:
To simulate single phase unipolar and bipolar Sinusoidal
Pulse Width Modulator inverter circuits in MATLAB Simulink.
Simulation Software Used:
MATLAB 2011 has been used in this mini project.
In Simulink, Sim Power systems block has been used.
The Maximum step size was changed to 0.001 due to the
problems encountered during convergence.
The Simulation was performed normally without any
accelerators. Also the simulation was run for 30 seconds to
counter the error occurred in THD measurement.
Bipolar PWM Inverter:
Figure 1.Topology and Output
The algorithm to produce PWM Bipolar voltage switching
signal is shown in Figure 1. It comprises of a comparator used
to compare between the reference voltage waveform Vr with
the triangular carrier signal Vc and produces the bipolar
switching signal. If this scheme is applied to the full bridge
single phase inverter as shown in Figure 2, all the switch S1,
S2, S3 and S4 are turned on and off at the same time. The
output of leg A is equal and opposite to the output of leg B.
The output voltage is determined by comparing the
reference signal, Vr and the triangular carrier signal Vc.
