A. General
Provide a factory-assembled, self-contained Air Handling Unit. Unit shall consist of but not be limited to: insulated casing, supply fan, filters,
electrical controls, completely factory wired, and accessories as specified (Unit shall be shipped as a single package.)

B. Manufacturer
Shall be American Energy Exchange, Inc. (AEX) with model numbers as shown on the unit schedule or equal with prior approval.

C. Unit Construction
Unit casing shall be single package type and shall provide complete protection for all components and controls. The unit base shall be formed 16-
gauge steel for rigidity and strength and shall be double wall with Styrofoam insulation and all interior seams watertight.
____ The unit base, shall be have structural “C” channel and “L” angle added to support heavy optional components specified.
The walls and roof panels shall be a minimum of 18 gauge. The roof shall be double wall with a minimum of 20 gauge inner panels. The case
design shall utilize unibody and stress skin construction for ultralight weight and maximum strength. All metal used shall be G90 galvanized steel
for corrosion protection. The unit casing shall be airtight and waterproof and supplied with condensate drain connections. Exterior surfaces shall
be primed and finish coated with multiple coats of industrial acrylic latex enamel. Access doors shall be hinged, double wall, insulated, bubble
gasketed and have an industrial grade cam action “T” handle latch. Access door hinges shall be continuous and made of stainless steel. All
interior surfaces shall be insulated with 1”, 1½# density insulation with a hard face coating. The insulation shall be rated per UL 723 for Flame
Spread not exceeding 25 and Smoke Development not exceeding 50. The hard face surface coating must face to the inside to act as an inner wall
and protect the fiberglass. Outdoor units shall be equipped with intake and exhaust hoods. All units shall be equipped with built-in lifting lugs. The
intake hood shall have a 17½-degree angle and have rain gutters on three sides to prevent water entry. All hoods shall have bird screen covering
the open area.

____ The unit shall be insulated with 1”, 3# density fiberglass insulation, NFPA 90A & 90B approved.
____ The unit shall be insulated with 2", 1 ½# density fiberglass insulation, NFPA 90A & 90B approved.
____ The unit shall be insulated with 2", 3# density fiberglass insulation, NFPA 90A & 90B approved.
____ The unit shall be double wall construction throughout, with a minimum of 20 gauge inner panels.
____ The complete unit shall be ETL Labeled per UL-1995 and CSA C22.2 No. 236, 2nd Edition.

D. Fan Section
Fans shall be selected per the scheduled data. The fans shall be a minimum of Class I, with reinforced angle frames and pillowblock style
bearings rated for 200,000 hours of B-10 life. The fans shall not be selected to operate outside of their cataloged efficient zone. Drive shall be
“B” width belt type with adjustable motor sheave for field air balancing. Each fan with corresponding motor and motor slide base shall be mounted
together on Structural supporting frame. The fan and motor assembly shall be vibration isolated with rubber-in-shear isolators. The fans shall be
isolated from their outlet collar with a flexible duct connection to minimize noise transmission into the outlet duct. Fan motors shall be ODP high
efficiency. Fans must be AMCA certified. Fan type and motors shall be: (select one each below)

E. Filters
Supply air filters shall be 2", high efficiency, Farr 30/30 or equal. Filter face velocity shall not exceed 500 feet per minute.

G. Dampers
Provide dampers of the types shown below. Dampers shall be made with 16 gauge galvanized steel blades and 14 gauge frames. Blades shall
rotate on cadmium plated rods in porous bronze bushings. Modulating dampers shall be opposed blade and two position dampers shall be
paralleled blade configuration.

Provide damper actuators and controls per controls specified. Provide dampers as follows:
____ Recirculation dampers, motorized type ____ Exhaust backdraft damper, motorized type
____ Supply backdraft damper, motorized type ____ Face/Bypass dampers for auxiliary heating or cooling coils, motorized
____ All dampers shall have low leakage construction with vinyl edge seals and stainless steel side seals

H. Control Systems
An integral control panel enclosure, built to NEMA 3R specification, shall be provided. The heat recovery unit controls shall contain but not be
limited to: motor starters with heaters and overloads, externally mounted non-fused disconnect switch (NEMA 3R), fused machine tool trans-
former to provide control voltage, appropriate low and high voltage terminals, damper motors and frost control components. All electrical compo-
nents shall be UL listed. The unit-wiring diagram shall be mounted and clearly visible on the inside of the electrical access door. The wiring diagram
shall be made of waterproof materials.

In addition, all controls required for automatic operation with all of the following selected accessories shall be provided, mounted and wired to the
internal control panel. Field wiring to the unit shall be limited to a single point power connection to the unit and control wires run to the units’ remote
control panel if provided.

H. Control Systems (continued)
Damper Controls:
____ A full modulating motor and a modulating thermostat, sensing the temperature shortly downstream of the coil shall control
auxiliary heating or cooling coil face/bypass dampers.
____ Backdraft damper shall automatically close when its attending fan motor is turned off and reopen when it is turned back on.
____ Recirculation damper shall automatically open when needed.
____ A Honeywell Excel 20 or equal direct digital control module shall be provided to control the above described operations.
Inputs: 7 Analog (Modulating 0-10,4-20ma, 20K), 2 Digital (On – Off)
Outputs: 3 Analog (0-10V), 4 Digital (On-Off)(Pilot Duty)
____ A remote control panel with fan motor on/off switches and indicating lamps shall be provided for each unit.

J. Roof Curb
Provide a roof curb designed to support the heat recovery unit. The curb shall be of the bolt-together type for ease of installation. The
curb shall be 14 gauge galvanized steel, 12” curb, and insulated with 1", 1.5# density, hard surface coated insulation.

K. Additional Unit Options

____ The unit shall be equipped with keyed locks on all service doors.
____ The unit shall be equipped with an indirect fired gas furnace, built on the same base as the unit. The furnace shall be
equipped to operate with __Natural Gas, __Propane and shall be equipped with __Gravity vent, __Power vent. The heat
exchanger and the burner shall be stainless steel (#409) and the furnace shall also have the following:

____ The unit shall be equipped with a direct fired gas furnace assembly built into the packaged unit for operation with
__Natural Gas, __Propane. The burner baffles and end plates and manifolds shall be heavy-duty cast iron. The furnace
controls shall include electronic ignition, flame safeguard control, electric solenoid gas valve, pilot solenoid gas valve,
electronic modulating gas valve with 30-1 turndown and remote setpoint, high limit switch, control voltage transformer, ignition
transformer, and burner pressure differential switch. The gas train shall be A.G.A. design certified.
The furnace shall also have the following:

L. Startup Service
Manufacturer or his representative shall furnish a factory-trained representative without charge for a maximum of two working days to
supervise startup and instruct the owner’s personnel on operation and maintenance. Manufacturer shall provide several copies of their
operation and maintenance instructions in the booklet form.

A. General

mounted together on structural supporting frame. The fan and motor assembly shall be vibration isolated with rubber-in-shear isolators. The
fans shall be isolated from their outlet collar with a flexible duct connection to minimize noise transmission into the outlet duct. Fan motors shall
be ODP High Efficiency. Fans must be AMCA Certified.

Fan type and motors shall be: (select one each below)

transformer to provide control voltage, appropriate low and high voltage terminals, damper motors and frost control components. All electrical
components shall be UL listed. The unit-wiring diagram shall be mounted and clearly visible on the inside of the electrical access door. The
wiring diagram shall be made of waterproof materials.

In addition, all controls required for automatic operation with all of the following selected accessories shall be provided, mounted and
wired to the internal control panel. Field wiring to the unit shall be limited to a single point power connection to the unit and control wires
run to the units’ remote control panel if provided.

Damper Controls:
____ Auxiliary heating or cooling coil face/bypass dampers shall be controlled by a full modulating motor and a modulating
thermostat, sensing the temperature shortly downstream of the coil.
____ Backdraft damper shall automatically close when it’s attending fan motor is turned off and reopen when it is turned back on.
____ Recirculation damper shall automatically open when needed.
____ A Honeywell Excel 20 or equal direct digital control module shall be provided to control the above described operations.
Inputs: 7 Analog (Modulating 0-10,4-40MA, 20K). 2 Digital (On – Off).
Outputs: 3 Analog (0-10V). 4 Digital (On-Off)(Pilot Duty).

J. Roof Curb
Provide a roof curb designed to support the heat recovery unit. The curb shall be of the bolt-together type for ease of installation. The
curb shall be 14 gauge galvanized steel, 12” curb, and insulated with 1", 1.5# density, hard surface coated insulation.

____ The unit shall be equipped with keyed locks on all service doors.
____ The unit shall be equipped with an indirect fired gas furnace, built on the same base as the unit. The furnace shall be

__Propane. The burner baffles and end plates and manifolds shall be heavy-duty cast iron. The furnace controls shall include
electronic ignition, flame safeguard control, electric solenoid gas valve, pilot solenoid gas valve, electronic modulating gas valve
with 30-1 turndown and remote setpoint, high limit switch, control voltage transformer, ignition transformer, and burner pressure
differential switch. The gas train shall be A.G.A. design certified. The furnace shall also have the following:

L. Startup Service
Manufacturer or his representative shall furnish a factory-trained representative without charge for a maximum of two working days to
supervise startup and instruct the owner’s personnel on operation and maintenance. Manufacturer shall provide several copies of their
operation and maintenance instructions in the booklet form.
