Book Rubric: World Religions

Directions: Your book must include the following pages. You may choose to set your book up
using any platform that you would like (PowerPoint or Word.)
Important Things to Remember:
- No more than 15 words on a page
o (The title for each page does not count towards your 15 words).
- Pictures, your pictures need to clearly communicate the required information.
- Be sure to use the rubric to help you address the topic of each page completely.
Day 1 – Exploring Ideas
Title Page (5 points total)
- Include your name, class period, assigned religion, and one interesting graphic/visual to
catch the reader’s attention.
Page 1 (5 points total)
- Founder or Prophet
o Who is the founder/prophet of this religion?
Page 2 (10 points total)
- Name Given to Believers/Religious Views/Beliefs
o What is the name given to people who follow this religion?
o What religious views/beliefs do followers of this religion have?
 Example: Do the followers believe in one god or many? Do the followers
believe in specific behaviors? If so, what are they?
Page 3 (10 points total)
- Sacred Writings
o What sacred/holy writings do the followers believe in?
o What sacred/holy writings do the followers read?
Page 4 (15 points total)
- Religious Practices
o What are some worship practices and religious rituals?
o What holidays do the followers celebrate?
o What celebrations are sacred to the followers?

Page 5 (15 points total)

- Current Distribution of Religion
o Locate a map showing the current distribution of your assigned religion.
o Select 6 countries, one from each of the inhabited continents.
o Create a graph that shows the distribution of your assigned religion in these
countries.
Page 6 (20 points total)
- Place of Origin/Diffusion/Trait of Diffusion
o Where did the religion begin?
o Where has the religion diffused to?
o Where (what location) are the holy places sacred to this religion?
o Where is there evidence of the religion in the world today?
 (Is there something we have today because of this religion?)
o Must create one map to assist in answering geographic questions.
 Hint: Be careful not to show distribution on this page, show diffusion.

Day 3

Page 7 (20 points total)

Summarize one article that illustrates religious conflict or cooperation. Record your findings on
the last page of your Children’s Book.
Include:
1. The Article Headline
2. The Author
3. The url of where the article was accessed
4. A summary of the article including
which group/groups are involved
causes and effects of the incident(s).
5. An explanation of how this issue is impacting public policy at the local, state, national, or
international level.

Page 7 is the ONLY page where you MUST use more than 15 words.
