Invisible women?

Level 9th
Objectives
→ To focus on how women were treated in society throughout
history.
→ To stimulate self-reflexion upon students so they value and
respect women in our society.

Activities Compare the Youtube videos.
Discuss how the videos are related with how women are seen
and treated in our society.
Listen to the songs.
Discuss the lyrics of each song.

Procedure
1. Watch Cinderella.
2. Ask students to pair up and write what were the odd things
they observed in the video.
3. Watch Cinderfella video.
4. Ask students to pair up and write what were the odd things
they observed in the video.
5. Compare both answers in a large group.
6. Elicit, if necessary, the points that make the first video be
considered “normal” while the second video was probably
considered “odd” by students.
7. Ask students to take notes during the discussion, because
they will later on write an individual essay about the
videos.
8. Divide students in five groups. Each group will be given a
song.
9. Tell students they will have time in class to listen to the
song and prepare a presentation of the lyrics and their
opinion about it to the class.
10. Watch the songs, the presentation of each group and talk
about the lyrics and if the lyrics can be considered
empowering or not and why.

Assessment
Have students write an essay about the comparison of the two
videos.
Group presentation of the song.

Homework Write an essay talking about the videos watched in class and the
discussion about them that was made in class.
