Portfolio Evaluation Guidelines Worksheet

Use this worksheet as a way of gathering the information that you will eventually turn into a report. Be
specific and accurate; remember that your classmates are counting on you for the portfolio evaluation
guidelines for this particular program and specific post-secondary institution

Are portfolio evaluations held separate to the admissions process or are they related?

When are portfolio evaluations held?

Are portfolio evaluations days set by the institution or do you have some choice on the date?

Is there an assessment or administration fee for the portfolio evaluation?

How many pieces are you allowed to show?

Is there a size limit to those pieces?

Do they want both 2-D and 3-D works?

Do they want finished art work? In-progress art work?

Do they want to see a variety of mediums or only art work in the medium of the discipline you are applying
to?

Do they want to see only independent work, or can you include work carried out for secondary school
class assignments?

How do they want the art works presented? Is there a specific format to the portfolio?

Are scans, slides, or digital photographs of your art works acceptable or do they only want to see the
originals? For example, what if you previously sold an art work or if the art work is too big to bring with
you?

Do they want to see Sketchbooks? If so, are they included in the limit of how many pieces you can show?

Do you need to include any form of written statement such as an Artist’s Statement or an Essay? If so,
what needs to be included in this written statement?

a table to layout your art works or must you take your art work out of your portfolio individually?

Do they have AV facilities in case you want to show a video or have a digital portfolio? For example, do
you need to bring your own laptop?

How soon after the portfolio evaluation can you expect to hear back from the institution?

Do they offer Portfolio Clinics?
