DEDICATION

The researchers would like to dedicate this thesis paper to our family for their unending

support to us throughout the end of this study. For supporting our expenses without any

hesitations and to continue inspiring us because without their support we will not be able to

conduct and accomplished this study. For the uplifting motivations It’s them who gave us

energy to keep going on.

Most of all, the researchers dedicated this study to the ever heavenly loving God for

his love and support in conducting this study. He never fail to give strength when the

researchers is on the point of being down and pessimistic to finish the study. For his good will

that was shared to them and most especially for the wisdom he blessed on them when they

needed it the most they won’t be able to come up with this study.

ABSTRACT

Clay is a fine-grained natural rock or soil material that combines one or more clay minerals

with traces of metal oxides and organic matter. Clay has the smallest particle size of any soil

type (less than 0.002 mm). This research centers on the issue on determining the

comprehensive strength of the clay soil collected at Talakag, Claveria, Bulua and Manolo

Fortich in Misamis Oriental. It points out the capacity of the clay soil which will be determine

after getting its strength through testing each clay soil in different areas. Based on the results

collected at Talakag, Claveia, Bulua and Manolo Fortich the following sample was examined

and given results was computed in its computed strength in mm2 and in psi. The clay soil in

Talakag has the highest percent of soil strengths over all computation measured mean of 8.32

mm2 and mean of 1206 psi and followed by the clay soil at Manolo Fortich which has the

mean of 5.92 mm2 and 858 psi. Followed by the clay soil at Claveria which has the mean of

5.58 mm2 and 812 psi. The least strength of clay soil is at Bulua which has the mean of

1.32mm2 and 190 psi. Basically, Talakag soil has the highest percent of soil strength. The soil

components is very stiff and it isn’t easily be fragmented or crushed. The researchers

recommended that the most prescribe clay soil should be use is one like that can be seen at

Talakag and thus these soil are most reliable to use in constructing cements which is useful to

building structural establishments.
