Motor Vehicle Theft


August 2010

Activity Summary:
• There were four (4) motor vehicle thefts reported in August, 2010. There were two (2) motor vehicle thefts
reported during the same time frame in 2009. This is a 100% increase from 2009 to 2010.
• The incidents were reported in the B1, B2, C1, and D2 reporting areas.
• Two incidents were discovered on a Monday and one each on a Saturday and Sunday.
• Three (3) incidents are open for further investigation and one (1) has been closed due to victim refusal to
cooperate.

Historically, HPD has an average of 6 motor vehicle thefts during the month of August with a current threshold of
1 to 11. This August, we were within the threshold with 4 reported MV Thefts.

Forecast for September:


The average number of MV Thefts for the month of September is 6 plus or minus 2. By the end of September, there
is a 68% chance HPD will have received between 4 and 8 reported MV Thefts.
