Lesson Plan in English for Academic and Professional Purposes

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard
The learner understands the principles and uses of a concept paper.
B. Performance Standard
The learner produces a well-balanced concept paper in a specific discipline.
C. Learning Competency:
The learner defines what a concept paper is.
D. Objectives: The learners will be able to:
a. identify the overview of the parts of a concept paper;
b. appreciate the level of importance of a concept paper to our daily lives; and
c. cite examples of concept paper available in their area.

Defining a Concept Paper

III. PROCEDURES
A. ACTIVITY
Pre-Activity
The teacher will ask the following questions:
1. What are usual parts of writing an essay?
2. Do we need to organize our thoughts and ideas upon writing?
3. What are the characteristics of a good concept paper?
Post-Activity
The teacher-facilitator will ask these following questions:
1. Why do we need to understand a concept paper?
B. ANALYSIS
1. The teacher-facilitator will show to the class slides from a
PowerPoint presentation.
2. The groups will identify the word/words from a jumble of letters.
3. The group who can determine as many words as they can will be
declared the winner.
C. ABSTRACTION
The teacher-facilitator will let each group to think of a social issue
depictive to the current society. They will create their respective social
issue chosen in a 3 paragraph form, 30 second-oral presentation and
rubrics will be provided.
D. APPLICATION
Students will draw a picture on how they viewed a concept paper based
from their understanding.
E. GENERALIZATION
Learning the overview of a concept paper gives us a bird’s eye view of
how rich the concepts of writing is. This brings us to the highest pedestal
of utmost appreciation in writing.
IV. EVALUATION
Students will list down examples of concept papers available in their area.
V. ASSIGNMENT
Research and critique a sample concept paper and elucidate important
points following the guidelines of it (definition, explication and clarification).
