3M NEGATIVE PRESSURE RESPIRATORS:

6000 SERIES FULL FACEPIECE RESPIRATORS:

As a negative pressure system, the 6000 series
Full facepiece can be used with 3M Cartridges
CP3N for tear agents and FR-64 for most military
And industrial materials.

The 6000 series can also be used with a wide

variety of other 3M Filters and Cartridges.

Available in Small, Medium and Large sizes.

Wide field of vision. Easy to adjust head straps.

Comfortable and lightweight.

May also be used in positive pressure

applications.

Please see page 3 for canister approvals and

Applications.

FR-M40 Military-Style Systems:

As a negative pressure system the 3M FR-M40
Full facepiece can be used with 3M Cartridges
FR-64 and FR-C2A1.

The FR-64 can be used against most military and

industrial materials.

The FR-C2A1 can be used against acid gases, CN,

CS and as a P100 particulate filter.

Cartridges may be mounted on either side of the

facepiece.

Available in Small, Medium and Large sizes.

Please see page 3 for canister approvals and

Applications.

3M POSITIVE PRESSURE RESPIRATORS:

RRPAS (Rapid Response Powered Air System) and

3M Breath Easy™ 10 Hood Systems.

Exceptional Protection for Public Safety and Civilian Responders.

RRPAS provides a powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) system with all components stored
in a unique carrying bag that transforms into a vest with the PAPR in place and ready for use.
RRPAS System uses 6000 series full facepiece respirator with chemical canisters attached to
the PAPR assembly. Easy don and doff. Hook and Loop fasteners on the vest for easy size
adjustment. Approximate weight 10 pounds. Belt mounted units (without vest) are also
available.

Breath Easy ™ 10 is available with either poly coated Tyvek hood or Butyl rubber hood. Butyl
rubber meets MIL-C-51251A (EA) for resistance to chemical agents. PAPR is belt mounted.
Either hood system requires no fit testing prior to use and may be used with facial hair and or
glasses. Approximate weight 8 pounds.

Both systems utilize either FR-57 or FR-40 Cartridge for protection against common military
agents and most industrial materials. Three canisters per system. Please see page 3 for
Cartridge approvals and applications.

FOOTNOTES TO 3M APPROVALS AND APPLICATIONS

ALL RESPIRATORS:

Air purifying respirators (APR) can be used when the contaminant and concentration
are known and below the IDLH limits and sufficient oxygen is present. The maximum
use concentration (MUC) in which an APR can be utilized is the product of the
assigned protection factor (APF) multiplied by the airborne exposure limit ( such as
TLV). This number, however, must be lower than the IDLH, otherwise the IDLH
becomes the MUC.

full facepiece Breathe Easy™ 10 and 6000 RRPAS 1000
TWA= Time Weighted Average, C= Ceiling Limit,
STEL= Short Term Exposure Limit
NA= Not Apliccable, ND= Not Determined
* Limits depend on specific contaminant. However, exposure limits have been set
for particulates not otherwise classified (PNOC) and particulates not otherwise
regulated (PNOR).
1 APF applies only when respirator has been quantitatively fit tested. If fit test
qualitatively, an APF of 10 applies.
2 Assumes that the criterion for using air-purifying respirators is met: the agent and
concentration are known and are below the maximum use concentrations and
IDHL limits and sufficient oxygen is present.
3 TLV= threshold limit value from the American Conference of Governmental
Industrial Hygienists. ACGIH Threshold Limit Values and Biological Exposure
Indices, 2000.
4 IDLH= Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health Limit. NIOSH Pocket Guide to
Chemical Hazards, 1990. DHHS (NIOSH) Publication No. 90-117.
5 H2S Escape only and P100 approvals are available for negative pressure air-
purifying respirators only.
6 CN, CS approval are available for tight-fitting air purifying respirators only. They
are not available for respirators with loose fitting headgear such a s hoods or
helmets.
7 High Efficiency (HE) particulate filter approval is available for PAPR's only.
8 3M respirators are not NIOSH approved for these agents. There are no NIOSH
approval schedules for DMMP, GB, Hydrogen Cyanide, Cyanogen Chloride,
Chloropicrin and Phosgene. See footnote 6 for explination of CN and CS.
9 DMMP is a common surrogate test agent for the nerve agents.
10 TLV and IDLH Limit values have not been established for Sarin. The values
listed for Sarin (GB) are the airborne exposure limit and the limit for which an SCBA
is the only acceptable respiratory protection. The Office of the US Army Surgeon
General (OASG) established these values.
