Installation Cautions

1. Grounding the Extended Base Frame with Conduit Inlets(BBS)

This section describes how to connect the extended base frame with conduit inlets to the
site ground.

Route the grounding cable through the side cable entry port. Connect it to the grounding
bolt (M8) and tighten the nut to a torque of 15 Nm using a torque wrench fitted with a
19mm socket.

See.

2. RBS installation
Using a Lifting Device to Move the Cabinet

Note:
The lifting device must be capable of lifting at least 400 kg.

If a lifting device is available, this procedure is recommended:

1. Attach lifting straps to the eyebolts and lift the cabinet close to the
installation location.

Do!

Always use an approved ESD wrist strap when working with sensitive equipment. Damage to
components mounted on printed board assemblies can occur if an ESD wrist strap is not used.
Example(DUWs,DUGs,RUSs)
To connect the earth grounding cable to the RBS, perform the following procedures:

1. Remove the TM inlet cover in the middle of the cabinet, using a T30 Torx
screwdriver.

2. Route the earth grounding cable from the site Main Earth Terminal (MET), to the
cabinet earth grounding point.

Note:
Minimum earth grounding cable area is 35 mm2.

Stop!

Do not install or modify AC or DC powered equipment unless you are a qualified and authorized
electrician. Improper installation work can seriously damage the equipment.
Connecting DC Power

Make sure the following:

 The external DC power supply is switched off.

 All the switches on Power Distribution Units (PDU) are off.

Connecting AC Power

Make sure of the following:

 The AC power is switched off at the source.
 The AC mains switch and all circuit breakers on the PCU AC are in the OFF
positions.
 All the switches on PDU are in the OFF positions.
 After the Installation of the AC cable.
1 Switch on site power.
2 Switch on the PCU AC mains switch.
3 Switch on one circuit breaker on the PCU AC.
4 Measure the output AC voltage from the PCU AC output connectors, using a digital
multimeter.
5 Switch off the circuit breaker on the PCU AC.
6 Repeat Step 3 to Step 5 for each circuit breaker and output connector on the PCU AC
respectively.
7 If any of the output voltages are outside the 190 – 260 V AC range, switch off the
site power and PCU AC mains switches and check the PCU AC strapping before
proceeding.

Installing the Feeder System

Note:

Handle coaxial cables with care. Any damage may have an adverse effect upon
transmission characteristics.

If the feeder cables or the feeder connectors are to remain temporarily unterminated,
protect them from water and dirt by taping a plastic bag or similar object around the
cable ends.

Grounding the RRUS

Do!

Products not connected to ground risk being damaged by overvoltage or overcurrent.

Always connect products to ground according to the instructions.
Handling SFP Modules and Optical Cables

To ensure full network performance follow the guidelines about how to handle SFP module
and optical cables.

Handle SFP Modules, Optical Connectors, and Optical Interfaces

Always keep the protective dust caps on

unplugged optical connectors and SFP
Modules. Remove the dust caps just before
cleaning and connecting.

Store the dust caps in a clean sealed

container or plastic bag.

Never touch the end face of the optical

connectors or let it come in contact with
other surfaces.

Never blow on SFP modules or optical

connectors.

Always clean optical connectors (ferrule)

before connecting to the SFP module, even if
the connector is new and unused.
Use a cleaning cassette or ferrule end face
cleaner. Follow the instructions given by the
manufacturer of the equipment.
Only clean optical receptacles, like SFP
modules and bulk-head adapters, if needed.
Inspect optical receptacles before cleaning.

Store and Transport SFP Modules

 Keep the SFP modules in its original packaging as long as possible.

 Always keep the protective dust caps on unplugged optical connectors and SFP
Modules. Remove the dust caps just before cleaning and connecting.

Installing Optical Cables for Main-Remote Solutions

The optical cables are sensitive. Always strap both the tube and the cable to the pole.
Installing with Tie Straps or Cable Clamps

Plastic covered tie straps or cable clamps are sufficient for installation of optical cables
where mechanical protection is not required.

Apply the tie straps or cable clamps every 0.5 meter.

Common Causes of Faults

Common causes of faulty optical cables are:

 Dirty SFP Modules

 Dirty connectors
 Cable kinks
 Too tight cable straps

Connecting the -48 V DC Power Supply

To connect the -48 V DC power supply to the RRUS, perform the following procedure:

Make sure that the external power supply is switched off before connecting the cable.
