Dear Amy, 7. This person helps a team play a better game.

I am so glad that I listened to you and went abroad. You should see La Jolla. It isn’t just a seaside resort – it’s a
fantasy. It must be the most beautiful place in California.

The International Centre for American English is located near the beach. Our Advanced English lessons are held
every day from 9.00 am till 3.00 pm, but we can go to the beach during our lunch break. Holland isn’t exactly sunny, as you
know, so I gladly spend every free minute on the beach here. I usually have lots of company, too. Strangers smile at me
like they know me well, and the minute I put my blanket on the sand, someone sits down next to me. At first it was very
confusing, but I soon realised that Californians treat everyone warmly. It’s appropriate, really. It goes with the weather!

At the weekends, I often go to the harbour and go sailing on a friend’s boat.

I have arranged to start taking surfing lessons next week, and I can already imagine
riding the waves on my Californian surfboard. Many of these boards are decorated
with beautiful pictures, painted by surfboard artists. That’s an interesting
profession, isn’t it? Maybe you should think about it. You really are a brilliant
painter. You can make lots of money easily.

Well, that’s all for now.

Yours, Max
