Imagine if Prince and Dorothy Gale were best friends.

Now throw in
some (extra) glitter, filth - add a dash of camp for good measure - and
you're nearly there.

Ganesh (a rational optimist turned psychedelic surgeon) and Cydney (an

illogical realist-cum-narcotic-loving nurse) were born in the depths of a
gin distillery, cradled by rainbows and raised on the music of Sondheim
and Cher. After travelling the globe seeking the reaffirmation their
lovers never gave them, the devilish duo are trotting back to London on
a mission to rid the city of lovesickness.

'Clinic' is Liver & Lung’s new brainchild. Our ambition is to create a

multisensory, interdisciplinary cabaret that takes unknowing ‘patients’
on a euphoric and enlightening journey towards sexual discovery and
self-love.

From Berlin-style burlesque to Bombay-inspired bhangra, we aim to

experiment with a variety of theatrical influences and musical styles,
giving Ganesh and Cydney the opportunity to reach the dizzy heights of
fame they so rightfully deserve.

Don't be fooled by their anachronistic attire (blame the wardrobe

department - or lack of); this couple are as current as they come,
prescribing you a nuanced social commentary, a dose of cultural quips
and an injection of hilarity and wit.

Cliché and unconventional in equal measure, Ganesh and Cydney's

‘Clinic’ is open for business, offering patients the chance to mend their
broken hearts. With the help of a little audience participation and some
outrageously intimate anecdotes, the pair deliver the perfect night-time
remedy… for your eyes only!
After reviewing the ethos of ‘BREAKING OUT’ and the values of The
Bunker as a theatre, we feel confident that the ‘out-there’, innovative
and unprecedented nature of ‘Clinic’ aligns well with what you’re trying
to achieve.

Firstly, ‘Clinic’ would require an innovative devising process. The

nature of cabaret as an art form requires continuous
development and a constant need to test material with audiences
due to its interactive format. We would want to work with The
Bunker in a development process that isn’t tied down to a
narrative structure. Instead, we aim to write scenes / anecdotes /
songs in a ‘modular’ fashion in short ‘sprints’. Each ‘sprint’ would
involve testing different combinations of ‘modules’ with small
audiences, and refining the output based on feedback.

Secondly, ‘Clinic’ promotes a positive message of self-affirmation

and unconditional acceptance in a new, intimate and tongue-in-
cheek way. Ganesh and Cydney’s eclectic stories from around the
world spread a message of inter-sectional tolerance and
unrestricted love, forcing audiences to reflect on their own
experiences, come to terms with their pasts and find the humour
in imperfection. We know BREAKING OUT’s focus on shedding
light on contemporary themes aligns well with this.

Thirdly, ‘Clinic’ breaks the idea of conventional theatre by

combining multiple story-telling formats that don’t
conventionally pair together. Ganesh and Cydney’s diverse skill
set - from classical Indian singing to balletic aerial dance –
provides new and exciting vehicles that audiences may have
never experienced before, adding to the spectacle of the night.

Finally, we aim to work strongly with Chloé Nelkin Consulting to

develop a brand around ‘Clinic’ that resonates beyond the
traditional theatre target audience. Our aim is to pitch ‘Clinic’ as
an exclusive event, an alternative to your usual night out, just as
fun, but with an extra dose of theatrical therapy.
After developing a series of self-devised and self-produced plays, we are
now looking to work with a more diverse group of practitioners to
expand our theatrical knowledge and challenge the way we
conventionally approach theatre. We have been looking for a safe space
in which to execute this ambition, one which fosters an ethos of
liberalism and artistic innovation.

We have noted the production history of The Bunker – it is clear that we

share the same values. Hence, we see working with you as a true
opportunity. Being a part of BREAKING OUT would help Liver & Lung
step out of its comfort zone and gain access to a structured mentorship
scheme (we are a relatively young theatre company with a keenness
and desire to learn). The opportunity would also afford us the ability to
develop our professional brand to help us reach a wider network of
audiences and practitioners.

We are a company invested in bringing exciting, thought-provoking and

ground-breaking theatrical experiences to a broad cross-section of
people and we hope BREAKING OUT is the next phase in our journey.
With Malaysian and English roots, Liver & Lung
Productions is an award winning theatrical project that
champions a global aesthetic, combining world ideas
and concepts to develop fringe musicals, plays and
events internationally.

We are stylistic and didactic and our aim has always

been to immerse audiences in visual experiences that
explore the brink of humanity, champion voices of the
unheard and instil faith in empathy.

Established in November 2014, Liver & Lung promises to deliver guttural and
passionate theatrical experiences, pushing the boundaries of current dramatic
convention from London to Kuala Lumpur.

Recently, Liver & Lung won the Malaysian National Arts Award for ‘Innovation
in Musical Theatre’ for its production of Mahsuri (And Other Peculiar Tales).
Its 5-star production of Submission at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival was long-
listed for the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award.
