DINAGYANG FESTIVAL | ILOILO CITY

Iloilo City’s Dinagyang Festival is one of the biggest festivals held every
January, also in honor of the Sto. Nino.

BABAYLAN FESTIVAL | BAGO CITY is based on the rituals performed by


the babaylans, like rituals on marriage, baptism, healing, harvest and
others.

KAAMULAN FESTIVAL | BACOLOD CITY is from the Binukid word “amul”


which means “to gather”. It is a gathering of Bukidnon tribes and people
for a purpose. It can mean a datuship ritual, a wedding ceremony, a
thanksgiving festival during harvest time, a peace pact, or all of these
put together.

PASALAMAT FESTIVAL | LA CARLOTA CITY is Held every Sunday nearest


the first of May or Labor Day. It is a harvest thanksgiving celebration by
the people of La Carlota City. The festival is based on an age-old practice
of offering thanksgiving to the god of agriculture living inside Kanlaon
Volcano.
MANGGAHAN FESTIVAL | GUIMARAS is a month long
celebration of Guimaras’ rich culture, and their feast of
thanksgiving for having bestowed a rich land where delicious
mangoes are being grown. Originally, it was just a week-long
celebration of Guimaras as an independent province since May
22, 1992, but through the years, with all the success that the
province has attained, Manggahan Festival has evolved to a
more vibrant and fun- filled month long event.

M MUDPACK FESTIVAL | MAMBUKAL RESORT, NEGRO


OCCIDENTAL is held annually at Mambukal Resort, and is
celebrated in the third weekend of June. The dancers are coated
with mud from the resort. Away from the hype of the festival,
one of the key issues that is addressed at the festival is the need
to preserve the environment. Participants are encouraged to
stay in harmony with Mother Nature by upholding conservation
efforts.

SANDUROT FESTIVAL | DUMAGUETE CITY is all about the story


of Dumaguete told in dance, music, theater, crafts and food. It
commemorates its history: from the ancient period to the
various episodes of foreign arrivals, up to today’s modern times.
It celebrates the diversity of its people, culture and traditions.

MASSKARA FESTIVAL | BACOLOD CITY is an annual festival in


Bacolod City with highlights every fourth Sunday of October
with street dancers in colorful costumes, masks and
headdresses. Bacolod City invites you to the “happiest and most
colorful festival in the Philippines” which will be a month-long
celebration with concerts, food fests, street parties, and a lot of
activities will draw thousands of visitors to the City of Smiles.
