Soon, dismissed as an expensive luxury, RSC ‘was closed down and sold off to the Army, in 1932, for the Indian Military Academy (IMA). RSC was re-established in 1952, in one of the Gaekwads’ many Palaces in Baroda. Built in renaissance style by Maharaja Sayajirao from 1908 to 1914, the palace was design by CE. Stevens, son of F.W. Stevens, architect of the iconic Victoria Terminus and Church Gate Railway Headquarters. Initially named as Lalbaugh or Prince's Palace, it was later named as Pratap Vilas Palace. Spread over 55 acres of lush green forest and lawns, the campus echoes with calls of peacocks and other birds, Generations of Railway officers have begun their life's journey through the lofty portals of the now more than century old palace, with a unique history of its ‘own and many to tell stories. The Palace, Auditorium, Model Room, Old Hostel (the royal stable), Badminton and Squash Courts ete. are part of our sacred folklore. Heritage & Nature workshops tours & walks for heritage enthusiasts, Alumni and Trainees are rogaaly | conducted. Vadodara from 6-8 November 2017. They interacted with the faculty of the Academy and took a tour of the camp ‘They participated in the sports competitions and presented a cultural programme. They visited important places in and around Vadodara such as the famous Laxmi Vilas Palace, EME school and Amu! Factory at Anand.
