I have a passion for working with students with disabilities and enjoy helping them
become more independent. As a student teacher candidate, I would love to prove my
hardworking and loving nature by gaining a position at your school. I would be honored
to be considered for this position, and I feel that I am qualified based on my experience
and background.

I am experienced in working with a diverse group of children, applying appropriate

teaching strategies, dealing with difficult behaviors, and completing paperwork on a
timeline. My time at Brigham Young University-Idaho has provided me several
opportunities to work in different classrooms, giving me experience in developing
differentiated lesson plans, administering assessments, and applying accommodations
and modifications for students on IEPs. I was able to learn about difficult behaviors that
special education teachers deal with when I was a teacher’s assistant in a Structured
Learning Classroom in Anchorage, Alaska for grades K-2. I worked with eleven boys
who were all on the Autism Spectrum, many of whom had Behavior Intervention Plans.
In addition, I was a teacher’s assistant in an Extended Resource room for grades K-2
where I worked with eight students with an array of disabilities. At both of these schools
I worked with students who had toileting needs. I am organized, coachable, and an
excellent communicator. I strengthened these skills while working at Klatt Elementary
and Spring Hill Elementary in Anchorage, Alaska. I oversaw teaching small groups of
students as well as the occasional whole group. I have a background in special
education, making me not only knowledgeable in teaching strategies, but also in how a
disability can affect a student’s ability to learn. Because of these skills and experiences,
I am a perfect candidate to work in the education field. I am prepared to come into your
organization as an efficient and devoted worker.
