The GPT T VCS ID gasket is a high reliability gaskeet used for botth insulating annd general seaaling purposes in
chemical media appliccations. Thee gasket has been b tested annd proven to perform
p in aggressive sealinng
situationns. The VCS IDI is suitable in
i all services up to and inclluding ANSI 2500#
2 and APII 5,000# classees.
The VCS S ID provides sealing
s confideence coupled with
w a solid elecctrical barrier to
t eliminate corrrosion.
 
The VCS ID gasket co onsists of a PTTFE (Teflon) spring-energize
s ed face seal, orr an elastomeric o-ring, seateed
in an inssulating laminaate, which is peermanently bonnded to a high -strength metaal gasket core. A PTFE barriier
element is integrated in n the inside diiameter of the gasket throughh a radial lockiing feature. The PTFE barriier
dramaticcally increases the chemical resistance of the product and a helps elim minate leak patths. Due to its i
unique pressure
p activaated sealing meechanism, the gasket requirees far less boltt stress to seall than any othher
gasket. The VCS ID gasketg inside diameter
d is exactly matched to
t the flange boore to eliminatte turbulent floow
and flangge face erosion n/corrosion. Thhe seal elements are replaceabble in the reusaable gasket retaainer.

Seal Material
 
The sealing elements are intended to provide an impervious barrier through which no contained media or
other substance can penetrate. Consequently, the composite retainer backing material behind the seal
remains uncontaminated and thus permanently holds the seal in place in a static, fully encapsulated
manner.
 
Seal Material Options
 
1) Machined PTFE STANDARD
 
Recommended for all chemically compatible environments.
 
Temperature Range: -250° F to +392° F (note: laminate material is limiting factor)

Insulating Sleeve Options
1) G-10 STANDARD
Nema Grade G-10 GRE (Glass-Reinforced Epoxy) tubing is suitable for continuous exposure to
302° F. This material is an epoxy laminate that offers excellent resistance to crushing, cracking,
breaking and thread pinch.
 
2.) Nomex HIGH TEMP
Type 410 Nomex is a paper type insulation material that offers high inherent dialectic strength, fair
mechanical toughness, and excellent heat resistance. Nomex provides essentially the same insulation
properties as G-10 but may be used at temperatures reaching 450F.
 
3) Mylar
Spiral wound Mylar is a general-purpose material recommended for bolting applications with flange
temperatures below 250° F. This material has generally fair resistance to crushing, cracking,
breaking and thread pinch.
 
Insulating Washers
1) G-10 STANDARD
1/8” (.125”) thick GRE (Glass-Reinforced Epoxy) washers cut to standard SAE washer dimensions.
Suitable for continuous exposure to 302° F and offering excellent resistance to crushing, cracking,
and breaking.
 
2.) G-3 HIGH TEMP
1/8” (.125”) thick NEMA Grade G-3 GRE washers are suitable for continuous exposure to 350° F.
This material is a medium weave glass fabric combined with an epoxy resin system (used when
ordering G-11 as gasket insulating material).
 
Steel Washer Options
1) ZPS STANDARD
Zinc-Plated 1050 Carbon Steel washers cut to standard SAE washer dimensions.
 
2) SS
316 Stainless Steel washers cut to standard SAE washer dimensions.
 
One primary cross-sections of the Pikotek VCS ID
 
1/2” thru 24” = .308” for all flange types including RTJ
 
This cross-section is used for all large diameter flanges (equal to and greater than 6” ID) in all pressure
classes except API 10,000 & 15,000 PSI. This thicker cross-section accommodates larger cross-section
seals and further increases flange separation. Further, the gasket thickness coincides closely to the
flange separation (standoff) found with standard large diameter “R” and “RX” RTJ connections.
