Rep. Jeff Stone refuses to debate challenger, blames Tea Parties claiming bias, 82nd District voters lose opportunity to
hear differences between candidates.

(Franklin) - A debate between 82nd Assembly District Representative Jeff Stone and challenger Larry Gamble scheduled for
Saturday, September 11th at the Root River Center, will not occur as Rep. Stone notified the Wisconsin GrandSons of Liberty that he
will not appear. The Wisconsin GrandSons of Liberty and the Greendale Tea Party have worked diligently to hold a debate between
Rep. Stone and challenger Gamble.

Stone is claiming that the debate will be biased due to his challenger’s status as a former member of the Wisconsin GrandSons of
Liberty. Gamble left the non-partisan group to run against Stone. The group previously held debates for the Franklin aldermanic race
and most recently between gubernatorial candidates Mark Neumann and Scott Walker.

Rep. Stone had previously stated that he would debate if the Republican Party supported or hosted the event and if it was “on
neutral ground.” In order to meet Stone’s demands, the tea party/Patriot groups discussed the debate with the Milwaukee County
chapter of the Republican Party. Although the county party was short of manpower due to pursuing its get out the vote effort, they
expressed that they did not object to the debate and the Chair of the West Allis Branch of the Republican Party of Milwaukee
County, officially offered on September 4th to host the event and secure a site.

The non-partisan Patriot groups in the 82nd District are troubled by Jeff Stone’s initial agreement to debate, which was followed by
his refusal to return calls for four days until after the groups’ press release of September 9 th. The inability to confirm the event with
Rep. Stone made it nearly impossible to finalize the details. The groups are saddened by the disservice done to the constituents of
the 82nd District by Rep. Stone and the Republican Party of Milwaukee County.

The Patriot groups sought the debate to educate the voters in the district on the differences between the positions of the two
Republican candidates. There are no other candidates in the race. Wisconsin GrandSons of Liberty organizer Tim Dake said, “As
constituents in the district, we are appalled that Rep. Stone and the county party chapter have so little respect for the voters and are
resorting to the very traditional political games that prompted the rise of the Tea Party movement.” We extend a special Thank You
to Root River Center for their support and patience for this endeavor.
