Taking over the dismissal routine.
- The 5th grade students have a good understanding of what the rules and expectations are when getting
ready for dismissal.
- The students know the standard procedure of getting their backpacks from the back of the room and
stacking their chairs in a certain area.
- Classroom attention grabber “hands and eyes” is used.
- The students know to follow directions when instructed to put away whatever they were working on,
clean up their area, pack up their stuff, stack their chairs, and dismiss patrols before everyone else is
dismissed.
- Depending on the day, students may be allowed to pack and play a game in the classroom.
- Students are allowed to talk quietly while packing up and getting ready to leave, but not when the
teacher is giving instruction on what to do.
