STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
The purpose of this ePortfolio is to provide a designated space to reflect upon my journey
through the MET program, and evaluate my progression as a learner and as a professional. I am
stay committed to being a lifelong learner. Taking the time to reflect on this journey allows me
to acknowledge and truly determine where I was as a person and as a professional at the start of
the MET program, evaluate my goals from that time period, and then identify any progress
through my achievements. In addition, this reflective exercise can allow me to set goals for
myself moving forwards, to ensure that I am continuing to grow in my practice. Ultimately this
ePortfolio will be designed to meet the TQS – UBC capstone project standards and will be
created with that intended audience in mind. An aspect of this that I will need to consider is how
I will organize my ePortfolio to best meet the needs of my audience. I plan on organizing my
artifacts in a thematic manner as this will allow me to highlight the connections to educational
OBJECTIVES:
The key objective of this ePortfolio will be to highlight my growth as a teacher with
philosophy as an educator and my views of the impact that technology has on education
To provide a brief overview of what a firsthand experience in the MET program looks
To provide me with an opportunity to reflect on the knowledge that I have gained and the
RESOURCES TO BE USED:
For the resources that I will consider using, I have included this table that attempts to summarize
the main competencies and criteria outlined by TQS and UBC. From there, I have identified
possible artifacts to use. The actual creation of my ePortfolio will involve carefully going
through these different options and selecting the items that best connect to my theme and
purpose. At this stage, I have attempted to narrow my list of artifacts down to finding the best
examples that fit my thematic approach. This will likely need to be narrowed down further as I
begin to reflect on my experiences and build linkages between the different artifacts, reflections
and ET theories.

For creating the ePortfolio, the resource that I plan to use is Weebly. This platform will
provide me with a practical tool to develop a creative and engaging ePortfolio. Weebly will
allow me to clearly establish links between my own artifacts, various theories, and external
sources. The ability to customize the theme and menu of the site will also help with the
PROCEDURE:
To complete my objectives, I will need to start by deciding on the approach that I want to
take. I feel that I will need to pick between building my ePortfolio thematically or
chronologically. Once I have that selected, I can begin to think about how my metaphor and
artifacts will be connected to one another. During my time in the MET program, I have also
begun to foster dogs for a local animal rescue. This has been a rewarding experience that has
had significant impact on me. Many of the dogs that I have fostered are puppies and those
present unique challenges for raising them to be dogs ready for adoption. I am planning on
basing my theme around this experience of raising a puppy. I think this will connect in well with
my growth as an educator as I can envision myself starting the program as a puppy and leaving
as a dog ready for adoption! The artifacts I select will fit in to the metaphor as I will focus both
on theories of ET and learning as well as on the practical application of the knowledge I gained.
I will then have to begin the process of selecting the artifacts that I think will best represent my
growth and progression as an professional. After that, I will reflect on the various artifacts I
selected, the growth I have made and the impact that the MET program has had on me. At this
stage, I will work on detailing the learning theories and knowledge that I have gained and
describe how that is demonstrated through the selected artifacts. I will then assemble all of the
above items into my ePortfolio. This will involve careful consideration of the design of my
ePortfolio, as well as items like the ability to easily navigate the site and how things will be
linked together. The final stage will be critically analysing my ePortfolio to ensure that it meets
all the criteria set out by TQS, UBC and my own standards. This will involve editing and
OUTCOMES:
My expected outcome of this project is that I will have created an ePortfolio that truly
captures my growth as a professional, and can be used as a strong piece of evidence to highlight
who I am as an educator. My hope is that people who visit my ePortfolio will understand the
connections that I have made between my own artifacts, external sources and my teaching
philosophy. In addition, I expect that the metaphor I will select will help to strengthen the
overall quality of my ePortfolio by providing an engaging and creative way of thinking about
education.
