PDAC 2018 AND MACLEAN MINING INNOVATION:

VIRTUAL REALITY BOLTER TRAINING TOOL SHOWCASE

Collingwood, ON, March 2, 2018 - MacLean Engineering has been providing innovative mobile
equipment solutions to the underground mining industry for almost half a century, and much
has changed in mining practices and technology over that time period, including the rapid
evolution of simulation training technology to support safer, lower cost and more productive
operations. With this in mind, the MacLean booth (South Building #216) at PDAC 2018 will
feature the company’s first-ever virtual reality version of its flagship product, the 975 Omnia
Bolter. The training tool demonstration will give booth visitors an opportunity to operate the
MacLean bolter in a virtual environment that simulates underground mining conditions.

“The introduction of increasing amounts of technology into underground mining isn’t just about
equipment and infrastructure, it’s also about people,” notes Stuart Lister, MacLean’s Director of
Marketing and Communications. “This means providing mining companies and their employees with
the right mix of training tools that support safer, more productive operations is our focus, just as the
options for new training technology are increasing by the day. We look forward to welcoming visitors
to our PDAC booth to try out the MacLean virtual reality 975 Omnia Bolter experience.”

With a battery electric fleet already at work underground in Ontario, the introduction of face bolting
as a feature on the MacLean Bolter successfully completed, and the commissioning of the high
reach/heavy load LR3 Boom Lift continuing around the hard rock globe (including the Oyu
Tolgoi project in Mongolia), MacLean will continue focusing on product development innovation in
2018 and beyond, including full fleet battery electrification and digitalization, and progressive
automation.
