When the lever of the take -o ff valve is moved

forward or backward from the neutral position
all the oil flo w goes through the take-off valve
to external equipment.

If a take-off valve is not fitte d all the oil goes to

the selectam atic valve G and then to the ram
cylinder 'H ' and 3-w ay valve 'K' (if fitted).

If a 3-w ay valve is fitted the oil flow can be used

to operate the linkage and supply external
equipm ent at the same tim e w ith the lever in
the L/l position. The other positions give linkage
operation only or external supply only.

If equipm ent is being used where a continuous

supply of oil is needed then extra oil m ust be
added to the reservoir.

The system supplies oil to lubricate the upper

bearings of the transm ission. If the oil becomes
low the supply w ill be reduced or stop and the
transmission w ill be damaged.

A relief valve is fitte d in the port between the
hold valve and spool valve. It is used to relieve
high oil pressure between the ram cylinder, hold
valve, and spool valve. This occurs when you
transport a heavy im plem ent connected to the
linkage, over rough ground. W hen the oil pre
ssure increases, the relief valve opens and oil
flow s out. This makes the oil pressure in the
port less than that on the other side of the hold
valve. The plunger is then pushed o ff its seat.
When the oil pressure decreases enough the
relief and hold valves close.

The Sensing V alve M

This valve is fitted in the body as shown. It is
used to actuate the by-pass valve fo r a small
movement of the spool valve. W hen the spool
valve is moved a small am ount across the port,
the increase in oil pressure w ill close the sens
ing valve. The pressure between the by-pass
valve and sensing valve w ill increase and the
by-pass valve w ill close rapidly.

As soon as the oil pressure on the sensing valve

decreases, the valve w ill open. The oil from the
by-pass valve w ill flo w and the by-pass valve
w ill open. The sensing valve makes the by-pass
valve open and close fast. If the m ovem ent is
not fast, there w ill be damage to the hydraulic
pump.
The R ate o f L o w ering V alv e
This valve is controlled by the position of the
lowering control. If the control is turned coun
ter clockwise, it causes a restriction in the oil
flo w and increases the oil pressure in the port.

The plunger of the rate of low ering valve is

pushed against its spring. The port from the
hold valve is norm ally opposite a hole in the
plunger. When the plunger is pushed against its
spring the holes are not opposite. This causes a
restriction in the flo w o f oil from the port. The
linkage w ill low er slowly.

H7657
When the control is turned clockwise, the hole
in the plunger and port align. There is no restric
tion of oil and the linkage w ill lower rapidly.

linkage falls, there is leakage in the system. Do
the follo w in g to find the cause.

DRAFT CONTROL TEST

This test m ust be done in a field to check the
d ra ft control w ith a plough.

STEP 2. Put the lever of the three-w ay valve

(if fitted) in the L or IV1 position.

STEP1. Select DRAFT on the selector dial.

STEP 3. Start the engine then move the

quadrant lever rearward to RAISE. The linkage
must rise as you move the quadrant lever
rearward. Move the quadrant lever forw ard to
LOWER, the linkage must lower. S T E P 2. Put the lever fo r the three-w ay valve

rearward into the RAISE position to raise the
plough.
