Inquiry and Information Fluency Mini Lessons and Curate Resources

Introduction:
Teacher will present several examples that violate ethical use of
information, students are to decide if the violations are ethical or not.
Teacher will present probing question: Why is it important to use
information that is within the ethical use conditions?
Instructional Activities:
Students will view instructional video discussing plagiarism and its
consequences.

Assessment:
Students will design a mind bubble demonstrating ethical use of
online resources. The mind-bubble should illustrate the violations
and acceptable applications of online resources in using digital
resources.
Summary:
Overview: The lesson will focus on the acceptable use of digital
resources and how it affects users as well as owners of content
displayed online. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the
guidelines to be followed when using resources gathered from online
databases. Students will participate in discussions, engage in
instructional activities to better illustrate their understanding of
ethical use

Mini-Lesson Topic: Foundational Skills in Reading 1
Content Standard:
ELAGSE2RL1 Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where,
when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details
in a text.
Essential Questions:
Why is it important to know basic forms of asking questions?
How does asking questions contribute to my reading skills?
What are different forms of asking questions?
Introduction:
Teacher will introduce the story The Lion and the Mouse.
Students engage in discussion gauging their understanding and
comprehension of the text.
Instructional Activities:
Students will construct a storyboard illustration online demonstrating
their understanding of the text. Students will use voice recording
technology to retell and share their favorite story.
Assessment:
Students will complete a storytelling assignment. Through digital voice
recording students will retell their favorite story defining key details of the
text.
Summary:
Overview: The lesson will focus on students ability to demonstrate
their understanding of foundational skills in reading. Students will
have the opportunity to illustrate their understanding through multi
use of media. Students will participate in discussion and illustration of
their individual learning.
The main objective for this course is to provide students with the
foundational skills in reading related to identifying and understanding
key details in literary text. Through unit structured learning modules
learners are supplied with various resources and opportunities to
demonstrate their mastery of the aligned learning outcomes.
Collaboratively each resource engages learner interest that will
enhance reading comprehension

Teacher will introduce the story Little Red Riding Hood
Students engage in discussion gauging their understanding and comprehension of
the text.
Instructional Activities:
In this lesson we will focus on comparing and contrasting stories.
How can we differences and similarities in the different stories we read?
Students will choose two stories that they have read and explain how they are
alike and how they are different. Using the online Venn Diagram resource.
Create a venn diagram explaining the difference in two stories of your choice.
Pay close attention to the key details in each of the stories
Assessment:
Students will construct a venn diagram and illustrate similarities and difference
between two pieces of literature. Students are to focus on key details and
demonstrate their understanding of the text.
Summary:
Overview: The lesson will focus on students ability to demonstrate
their understanding of foundational skills in reading. Students will
have the opportunity to illustrate their understanding through multi
use of media. Students will participate in discussion and illustration of
their individual learning. Students are provided opportunities for
autonomous production of instructional and assessment activities.
