ruminant and non-ruminant animals. The student is expected to:

(a) describe the structures and functions of the digestive system of


ruminant and non-ruminant animals, including poultry and cattle;

OBJ: Students will APPLY knowledge of functions and parts of the ruminant
digestive system and CREATE a detailed poster with a partner, using class
materials, and obtain a score of 85% or more based off rubric criteria.

The student will create a detailed poster of an animal learned in class that has a
RUMINANT digestive system. The student is expected to have the following
information labeled on their poster:

1. Animal of choice that is in the rumenous category.


2. Basic name. (Bovine, ovine, porcine etc )
3. Explain what a ruminant digestive system is.
4. Describe what is involved with the types of digestion systems (mechanical,
chemical, excretory) etc. This is on your note sheet.
 Ex: What takes place where? ---“mechanical digestion starts in the
mouth- Mechanical digestion involves prehension (gathering of food)
and mastication (chewing). * must be specific!*.
5. Correct labeling for all of the system parts.
6. Explain specific functions of all the labeled systems.
7. Give 4 facts about your animal 2 for digestive system and 2 for the animal.
8. Color code the digestive system and make a key.
9. Poster must be LEGIBLE.
10.Ideas must be ORIGINAL.
