Times 9.30—3.00pm

1. Championships will be split into boy/girl finals events. There are cups for junior, intermediate and
senior boys and girls championships. This will be determined by the best points score over each of the
events. The finals will not be timed.
2. There is no limit to the amount of championship races that the chrn may swim in.
3. All non championship races are graded on pre timed class races.
4. Children must swim in at least 2/3 races –minimum. Teachers must ensure that children enter at least
2 different events. Encourage children to enter different stroke events. At the teachers discretion chrn
may enter 3/4.
5. Heats are level based.
Junior is Year 4
Intermediate is Year 5, 6
Senior is Year 7, 8
6. Championship races are made up of the 4 fastest boy and girl qualifiers in each age level. Junior,
Intermediate and Senior. These qualifiers will be determined by individual timing before the day.
Opportunities will be made for chrn who miss qualifying heats.
7. Have a house meeting on Thursday 1st March 2.30pm…need to pick relay teams… to
encourage team spirit within the House teams.
8. Senior School will be running a sausage sizzle.

This Year a separate Boys and Girls Relay race.
 Year Four 1 boy and 1 girl
 Year Five 1 boy and 1 girl
 Year Six 1 boy and 1 girl
 Year Seven 1 boy and 1 girl
 Year Eight 1 boy and 1 girl
This information is all collected through the timing of swimming heats if unsure.

Novelty Relay Team to be organised.


One swimmer from the following levels.
The children wear a shirt and cap, swim one length change clothing, go…
Year 8 Year 7 Year 6
Year 5 Year 4
These swimmers should not be involved in the Championship Relays.
9. In any race, if the child touches the bottom they must stand up put their hands on their heads and
turn around once. Then they carry on swimming.
10. House points are awarded for the following,
 First Place—4 points
 Second Place—3 points
 Third Place—2 points
 Fourth Place—1 point
 Sportspersonship is worth 4 points.

The main theme of the day is Sportspersonship and team spirit, henceforth the high weighting to
Sportspersonship. These can be handed out at any time.

11. All children not involved in swimming on the day need to have notes and then will co-ordinate with
Katie on support roles that they can play. Roles—

 Children to help find any children who have not turned up to events, responsible to Race
Marshall
 Senior Children – sausage sizzle?
 Runner to stay with Recorders for any messages.

12. House Captains will have a race list for the day to help co-ordinate children as well as having a
White board or chart with current races.
13. All children in the Junior, Intermediate and Senior groups need to know before the day what events
they are in.
14. Certificates will be presented at a later assembly. Winning houses and Championship placing’s will
be announced on the day.
15. Swimming Cups will be awarded to the top performing swimmer (on overall points) in the following categories.

16. Parent Request for help to be put in newsletter for the 1 week in advance of the day. Race times will
also be in the newsletter before the week
17. On entry lists of social races try to group chrn into similar ability heats. Also include first letter of
surname.
18. Certificates to be given to Championship Winners as well as individual championship winners. On
the day chrn who came third, second and first to be announced for each cup.
19. Announce races before starting using whistle and megaphone
20. Entries for junior 2 length races is only on the condition that there are children who demonstrate
reasonable confidence in those strokes, otherwise don’t enter.

Prepare 4 boxes with appropriate rod colours in these. Cuisenaire Rods- 4 highest colours
Place House colour titles on boxes. Titles, Boxes
Whiteboard outside for Score and House updates. Whiteboard
Table for Helen and Donna set up just outside the pool. Table plus 2/3 chairs.
Chart made up to show the start of a championship race. Chart, Lettering, Paint.
Paper cut up into squares for the 4 scorers plus have crayons for scoring Paper cut up, crayons

Bank divided off into 4 areas for each house. Needs to be an access way at Standards, Rope, Cones
