LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH #8


GRADE 8
JANUARY 30, 2018

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the day, the students will be able to:


1. develop a basic understanding of ‘perspective’ through interactive discussion
2. express their own perspective by sharing their personal view point about the given situations
3. write their views about being a real Filipino

II. SUBJECT MATTER


Topic: Perspective (Introduction to African Literature)

III. PROCEDURE

a. Routinary Activity (5 minutes)

1. Opening prayer
2. Checking of attendance
3. Classroom conditioning
4. Recall of the previous topic

b. Lesson Proper

1. Motivation

The students are tasked to play ‘charades’, but instead of using words the teacher will provide
different optical illusion images to be used by the students in the game. The following images
are as follows:

The teacher will post the topic on the board.

3. Discussion Part

The teacher will ask a volunteer to read the definition of perspective. The statements below will
be the center of the discussion:

Perspective- (n) ‘’science of optics’’, from old French ‘perspective’ and directly from Medieval Latin
‘perspectivaars’, from the term ‘‘perspectivuus of sight’’, or in Latin ‘perspectus’ or
clearly perceived.
-sense of ‘’art of drawing objects’’.
-(1762) its figurative meaning is: ‘’mental outlook over time’’.

What is the view of Africa?


There are an estimated 3000 tribes/groups in Adrica.
There are over 2, 100 languages spoken in Africa.
Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism are the main religions practiced.
The Wodaabe people do not name their children until they reach 12 years old.

Beliefs
‘Self’ is not separate from the world.
‘’Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu’’ (a poem that reflects their belief as an individual)
A person is a person through persons.
Each ethnic group centers a ‘family’ and can be found in each group’s art, music, and oral
literature.
4. Post Activity
Clash of Clams
The students will be grouped into two. They will pick a clam-like material with questions taken
from African beliefs and proverbs that will be provided by the teacher. Given a minute, they have to
defend their answers whether they agree on it or not. They have to toss a coin whether they will
defend as ‘agree’ or ‘disagree’. These will be the following questions:

5. Application
The teacher will ask the students:

IV. EVALUATION

Given 5 minutes, the students will answer in a ½ crosswise the question below:

In your own perspective, how can you say that you are a true Filipino? Is it because of your
race of blood or through embracing Filipino beliefs and cultures?

V. ASSIGNMENT
