Monday March 5

Objectives:
● Students will be able to identify the main idea in multiple pieces of writing
● Students will be able to identify themes in multiple pieces of writing
Procedures:
● The teacher will pass out guided notes for the main idea and theme notes
● The teacher will display the powerpoint of notes on main idea and theme
● The teacher will then pass out articles for students to read
● The teacher will then pass out main ideas and themes written on papers
● The teacher will instruct students to match the main ideas and themes to the
articles that they have read
Modifications:
● Co-teachers moving about the room helping students to get the assignments
understood and performed properly
● Reading aloud the worksheets directions
● Providing guided notes for main ideas and themes
Assessments:
● Formative- Students will be working in groups to match main ideas and themes
to their articles for completion

Tuesday March 6
Objectives:
● Students will be able to create main ideas through headlines for articles
● Students will be able to create themes for short stories read
Procedures:
● The teacher will group students together
● The teacher will pass out articles to the students
● The teacher will have students read the articles in groups
● The teacher will have students create headlines for the articles provided
● The teacher will pass out short stories for the students to read
● The teacher will have students write down the theme and its evidence from the
short stories
Modifications:
● Co-teachers moving about the room helping students to get the assignments
understood and performed properly
● Having students read together in groups
● Reading aloud directions for class
Assessments:
● Summative- Students will complete an activity creating titles for articles using
their main ideas
● Summative- Students will complete an activity writing the theme and their
evidence from short stories they will have read

● The teacher will pass out short stories for students to read
● The teacher will have students identify the different character perspectives within
the text

Assessments:
● Summative- Students will complete an activity identifying different character
perspectives in short stories

Friday March 9
Objectives:
● Students will be able to identify character perspective in multiple short stories
● Students will be able to analyze the use of character perspective in short stories
Procedures:
● The teacher will group students together
● The teacher will pass out an activity where students are required to create a story
based on certain characters and their perspectives
● The teacher will have students work on this for the class period
● The teacher will have students share their stories with the class

● Formative- Students will be creating short stories based on character
perspectives in groups
